My cloud, your cloud, iCloud, what is all the buzz about the new trend called “Cloud Computing?” Cloud computing is a technology that provides access, storage and applications for your latest trendy iPad, laptop, smart phone, etc. More simply, it’s like having an external hard drive in cyberspace. As the user, you don’t need to understand how the infrastructure works or where it resides, but you score advantages like downloading the latest app (without caring where it comes from), storing your music remotely (not on your computer) that can be accessed by all of your devices no matter your location, and sharing documents and pictures with friends or coworkers much more easily (no more email attachments). Although cloud computing is a much more complex concept and is making a huge impact on large and small businesses, individual users need only worry about the speed and convenience it brings to busy lifestyles and the newest gadgets. Thumbs up to the Cloud. Types of Cloud Storage Data Storage - Many companies now offer cloud storage. Choosing the company and/or type of storage depends on the data you are storing. If you are looking for a place to store files on your computer remotely in case of a crash, there are many companies like Amazon and Apple that store your data and charge you based on the amount of data stored remotely. Sharing Storage - Dropbox is one of the leading companies providing cloud storage that allows many users to access the data from the cloud. This is especially helpful for companies that have employees in different locations or employees that work from home. Back-up Cloud Services - If you are looking to have your data backed up to a cloud on a regular basis, Carbonite’s Online Backup and Symantec’s Online Backup are just a few of many companies offering scheduled back up services and file recovery. Archival Storage - The need to permanently archive important data is a specialty of Iron Mountain’s Virtual File Store and Autonomy Zantaz’s Digital Safe. These companies usually offer search features and the ability to store data as read-only so it cannot be changed. Cloud computing offers a whole new and improved way to store data. If you’re ready to jump on the cloud, do your research, and find a reputable company that suits your storage needs. Each day, more companies are saving valuable computer space and allowing someone else to keep their important data safe. Explore more about computer repair Las Vegas
