Having the right equipment is one of the most important steps that you can take to ensure you are safe when using your gas cylinders. Gas pressure regulators serve an important purpose of reducing the amount of pressure released from the high pressure cylinder to a workable level. Any defect in these could have an almost fatal effect so it pays to learn about the types and other aspects of these products. There are two major types of propane gas regulators: the single stage and two stages. Single stage and two stage varieties Single stage gas regulators serve the same function as the two stage ones. The only difference is that the single stage reduces the gas outlets pressure in just a single step. The propane dual gas regulator will reduce the gas pressure in two major steps. The choice of either product depends on the type of application you have. You cannot use either of them with the wrong application. In case that happens, there might be problems with the product and might consequently result in an explosion. It is important to ensure that your gas cylinder has the right regulator. Parameters There are two major parameters that you should put into consideration when it comes to propane gas regulators. These may include the droop and the supply pressure effects. Droop is a parameter that is used to measure the difference between pressure zone flow conditions and the maximum capacity flow. The supply pressure effect on the hand is a parameter that measures the variation in pressure delivery as the pressure supply decreases as the cylinder empties. A single stage one will have different droop and supply pressure effect characteristics compared to the two stage one. While a single stage variety will show little droop characteristics with varying pressure rates, the two stage variety will have steeper droop characteristics with small supply pressure effects. Materials One of the major factors that you should put into consideration when purchasing your propane dual gas regulator is the material used to manufacture it. For propane gas cylinders meant for general use, brass constructed regulators with elastomeric diaphragm will serve a good purpose. They will tend to have good non corrosive services especially where there is diffusion. The brass regulators with stainless diaphragms will help in preventing diffusion of air and gas adsorption on the diaphragms. For industrial one, consider using the Buna-N or neoprene diaphragms.
