One major necessity in a Facebook fan page is a custom tab segment. Custom tabs are located below your timeline cover photo just to the right. Fans can be sent right to your promotions if they click on these handy advertising tools. Custom tabs, aka "Facebook Apps" can help get you more connected to your fans and increase your chances of converting them into paying customers. Additionally, they can be used as landing pages to build a subscriber list while helping you build your brand at the same time. One clear-cut advantage of these tabs is that they serve to keep Facebook users inside Facebook, instead of sending them out of their comfort zone. This increases the probability of converting visitors into fans, and fans into paying customers, because you're not taking them out of their comfort zone away from where they want to be-inside Facebook. There are various ways to add and build out these Facebook Apps inside your business page. One way is through the Static HTML/iFrame, which I will be showing you in this article. First of all, search for the "static HTML:iFrame tab" in the Facebook search bar. When you find it, click on it and you'll be asked if you would like a tab to be added to your Facebook business page. Click on the "Add Static HTML to a page" and confirm it. All your business pages will show up, but just select the particular fan page that you want to add the custom app to, naturally. The second step is customizing your app. You can start by changing the name and the thumbnail icon. Click on the pencil-looking image in the upper right section of the thumbnail and then click "edit settings". Now you can rename your custom app and save your changes.. Now you can edit the thumbnail picture by clicking on "change" and uploading a new picture. The system defaults to a 111 x 74 thumbnail pixels size. Your custom tab isn't very big, so be sure to make the image conspicuous. Remember to add your call to action and be sure to choose an image with bright colors for your thumbnail. Now that you've finished editing the thumbnail, you can add the content. Just click on the custom tab and you will be routed to the editor page. In this section, you will be provided with a good few choices on how you would like to add your content: the customary option is via HTML. Other options include Drag and Drop, Image, Contact and Website. The type of content you have will determine the method you choose to add it. Your custom tab is complete as soon as you've finished uploading your content. Remember, you can add as many of these custom apps as you would like: just go to the app editor page to do so. Customs tabs are considered to be the icing on your cake, as they bring your Facebook business page to a whole new level. There are even more ways to utilize them for generating more fans and eventual paying customers, like hosting contests and raffles. Last of all, to continue converting a high percentage of Facebook users into fans and eventually customers, you must consistently keep your followers inside your fan page: creating these Facebook apps is the only way to go to accomplish this goal.
