Given such a diverse culture and rich tradition, India is understandably famous for a lot of things. But two aspects of modern Indian society stand out in particular: Chhota Bheem and cricket. These two cultural phenomena are universally loved in India, and you could hardly have a discussion about the country without one or the other being a prominent topic. With the high regard that the country's residents have for Chhota Bheem and cricket, it was only a matter of time before both would come together. Now, that is exactly what has happened in a celebrated series of video games that set new standards for quality and enjoyment. Chhota Bheem is the main character in a local animated series, which deals with the travails of a young boy as he grows up in the fictional town of Dholakpur. Launched in 2008, the series was a runaway hit, with more than 120 episodes aired by 2012. The massive success of the series led to a slew of animated shorts over the next several years, culminating in the full-length feature Chhota Bheem and the Curse of Damyaan. Chhota Bheem has all the characteristics that we all expect from our heroes: strength, courage, and intelligence. It is precisely these qualities that help our hero get the better of his rival, the slightly older bully Kalia Pahelwan. Along with sidekicks Dholu and Bholu, Kalia always seems to hatch a plan to cut down Chhota Bheem, with little result. These bullies are often no match for Chhota Bheem and his friends, and our hero uses his considerable skills to deal with formidable enemies as well. Because of his extraordinary abilities, Chhota Bheem is ideally suited for a wide variety of action-packed video games, most of which feature some notable aspect of his capabilities. Given the immense popularity of cricket in India, it isn't surprising that many of the games feature Chhota Bheem playing the sport. In Target Practice, Chhota Bheem his friend Chutki and the bully Kalia enjoy a rousing game during a sweltering summer day. The object of the game is simply to hit the target and earn points. In Cricket Challenge, Kalia deviously challenges Chhota Bheem to a game. The stakes are high for this particular match however, as Kalia forces the following condition on our hero: whoever loses the game has to promise to never to play cricket again! Book Cricket revolves around a cricket tournament set in Chhota Bheem’s hometown of Dholakpur. He has an edge however, in a magical cricket guide book with which he can exert control over all the other teams. Cricket Paathschala is a game in which Chhota Bheem and his friends set about to enjoy some after-school fun. As usual Kalia shows up to spoil the fun for everyone, although Chhota Bheem and his friends Dholu and Bholu are more than up to the challenge. In Matki Cricket, Kalia once again tries to get the better of Chhota Bheem and his friends, and cricket is once again the game of contention. The familiar cricket action is boosted with a unique twist, making for a highly entertaining game.
