The gradual increase in popularity of hosted data centres and cloud infrastructures as a measure of cost reduction means that there is huge scope for the providers of hosted data centres, end-user computing and network infrastructure. Kable’s survey reveals that software spending is currently focused on enterprise applications and application lifecycle management, each with an average allocation of X% of the total software budget. The proportion of staff members allocated to IT Infrastructure (X%) closely follows that allocated to applications (Y%), primarily driven by the need to support increasingly distributed networks, particularly in light of the demand for cloud computing solutions.
