Aimpoint has produced a wide variety of optics for shooters and hunters. Aimpoint M2 and Aimpoint M3 are two of the most popular models used for defense purpose. Let’s find out the difference in between these two types. Aimpoint optics have great reputation in the global market. They are made by a reliable Swedish lens company, the Aimpoint AB which is also producing red dot sights for defense purpose. The key advantage of red dots sights is that the user can focus and shoot at a target by keeping both of his/her eyes open. While looking into the Aimpoint, the user can easily find a red dot in the lens. This red dot can not only be placed on the target but also provide more accuracy and speed to the shooter. It is convenient for use as the user can have a wide field view at any distance. Another important feature of Aimpoint optics is that they offer parallax-free sights due to unique double lens system. It indicates that the point of aim will be same as the point of impact when the shooting range is long and target is more than fifty yards away. Aimpoint produces a wide variety of models and one of the most lightweight ergonomic one is Aimpoint comp m3. It can be used by the military force and law enforcement agency in poor light conditions and bright daylight. Aimpoint M2 differs from Aimpoint M3 in configuration, battery life, technology and price. Both of them follow the same working principle of red dot sight or Reflex Collimator Sight. They use the Light Emitting Diode or LED as the source of light which does not reflect any harmful rays for the eyes. Both of these lenses use 650nm red light of laser wavelength in this light source. They offer unlimited eye relief without any parallax visions. Aimpoint M2 and Aimpoint M3 are compatible in night vision and have same mechanical features like surface finish, material housing and mounting methods. Again, the temperature range in these Aimpoint optics are same and no radioactive materials are used in them. They are same in dimensions including weight, length and tube length. Comparison between Aimpoint M2 and Aimpoint M3 1. M2 is built using the Circuit Efficiency Technology (CET) whereas M3 is built using the Advanced Circuit Efficiency Technology (ACET). 2. The red dot size in the M2 optics is 4 but in M3 it comes in two different options i.e. 2 and 4. 3. Though both of them use 3V lithium battery, and battery type is 2L76 or DL1/3N, but they differ largely in battery life. The battery life in the M3 is 50,000 hrs over a period of five years of regular use and it will be 500.000 at the NVD setting. However, the battery life in the M2 is 10,000 hrs over a period of 1 year use and it will be 100,000 hrs at the NVD setting. 4. The water resistance capacity in the M3 is 45m and it can get submersed to one hundred fifty feet. But, the water resistance capacity in the M2 is 25m and it can be submersed to eighty feet. As a user, you always have the option to pick up the most usable optic for your shooting purpose. Make sure that you carefully go through each and every feature of the available aimpoint models before making a final purchase.
