People love equestrian wear for a lot of reasons. Comfortable, classic and timeless, cowboy-style clothing suits the lifestyle of a great many Americans. This original style is one that was born for a practical purpose but has grown and evolved into a fashion staple. It is a style that is also emulated by others in Asia, Europe and other places around the world. Many people in some parts of the US do not view this type of clothing as anything special but instead a style that they will wear on a daily basis. There will also be attention to the fit of the seat, hips and thighs for both women’s and men’s versions so that these are comfortable to wear should the wearer ride a horse. Some brands are preferred to others as these types fit better than some of the mainstream brands. Classic western shirts usually have snaps instead of buttons. Part of this is practicality, as snaps do not pop off as buttons would. Equestrian clothes with snaps tend to have a pearl luster that has been popular forever but there are also ones with other types of finishes. These also appear on the flaps of shirt pockets presumably to keep the cowboy’s cigarettes from coming out of his pocket while riding his horse. Newer designs follow trends that may include colors, embellishments or other details. Clothing that is intended for casual wear and casual riding or working cattle will be different from clothing worn for horse shows. To complete the look, people can choose boots, hats and belts. Boots can be pull on or lace up types, often referred to as “ropers”. Practical uses often call for neutral blacks, grays or browns but for fun these can be any color. Belts often have German silver details and many people have their names on the back of their belts. Hats can be felt or straw with some makers providing dozens of different styles.
