A Brief Overview Established with a vision of providing technological competence along-with human values, Bharath University is a world class institution, a deemed to be university located in Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu. It was established by Sri Lakshmi Ammal Educational Trust in 1984 and was originally named as Bharath Institute of Science and Technology. It was later renamed to Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research and on acquiring a deemed university status in 2006, it was again renamed to Bharath University. Courses Offered & Admissions The university has 17 departments that include all the engineering branches, architecture, management studies and master of computer applications. These departments are responsible for offering Bachelor of Technology and Master of Technology in various engineering branches, Bachelor of Architecture. There are various research programmes for those who want to pursue doctorate (Ph.D ). Admission to these courses is through an entrance exam conducted by the university itself. Only those who have valid GATE scores are exempted from entrance exams for M.Tech courses. Besides being a credible name in technical education, the university has also built an excellent reputation in management and medical education. Its School of Medical Sciences and School of Dental Sciences offer MBBS and BDS/MDS respectively. Those who want to pursue higher studies in Pure Science or humanities can apply to the School of Sciences and Humanities. Campus Bharath University has built itself state-of-the-art infrastructure, complete with different administrative and academic blocks, a fully computerized extensive library, engineering drawing lab, language labs, and others.
