Black Friday is the time to shop until you drop. This shopping holiday is not what it used to be. Shoppers would head out the day after Thanksgiving to grab great deals on all of the items on their list. Nowadays, Black Friday is becoming Black Thursday Night. More and more retail stores offering incredible Black Friday sales are opening their doors earlier than ever before. These stores are offering door buster deals starting as early Thursday evening. Most sales last most of Thursday night into the day on Black Friday, but the supplies are very limited. Riots, Stampedes, and Fist Fights! Oh My! There have been a number of riots, stampedes, and fist fights over these bargains in the past, but the 2012 shopping season ended without too many issues. Most problems stemmed from stores have a very small quantity of sale items and long lines full of irritable customers. There were a few altercations, a few arrests, and tons of disgruntled shoppers, but it would not be Black Friday without all of these things. Shoppers have beat one another senseless over items are trivial as shoes, televisions, and gaming systems. It has yet to be determined whether or not Black Friday is worth the dream like bargains. This shopping holiday literally gives new meaning to the old phrase of, “shop until you drop”. These days it would be more like, “shop until someone drops you.” Is Black Friday Unfair to Store Employees Many employees of these retail giants feel like they are being cheated out of time with their families on the holidays. The doors of Black Friday sales are opening earlier each year. Employees state that the pay is not worth serving hundreds of disgruntled customers when they could be at home sleeping off all of the turkey they consumed. Many people feel that Black Friday shoppers should stop rushing to these sales in an effort to discourage the amount of violence and nonsense that occurs. There is also a large amount of theft that occurs during Black Friday. Clerks are too busy and scattered too thin to properly watch out for shoplifters. Most stores have a police presence to keep outbursts and shoplifting to a minimum, but only so much can be done. The whole concept of going to shop on holiday is lost on some shoppers. Consumers give thanks during their turkey dinners for the things that they have in life. Then, a few short hours later, the same consumers will knock their fellow man senseless for a pair of name brand shoes. Ready to Shop Black Wednesday Next Year? Only time will tell what the future will hold for Black Friday. Maybe in 2013 shoppers will be lining up around the block to shop on Black Wednesday before Thanksgiving. One surprise about Black Friday is that there were not as many people lined up outside of the building days in advance. There were some stores who found consumers camped out before the big event, but many people chose to stay home with their families. It is unclear whether or not these shoppers wanted to stay out of the cold or if they simply did not have the extra funds. Shop at your own risk. There are tons of places to Shop on Black Friday where you can save money. Whether or not you will be safe is another question entirely.
