You don't have to leave the comforts of home behind just because you leave home. You can enjoy a relaxing hot shower room even when camping in the middle of the deepest woods. You don't need fuel or electricity, either. You can build a portable solar shower that gets all the fuel it needs from the rays of the sun. All you need are a few simple parts and a little bit of work. Instructions as follows: Firstly, inflate the inner tube using an air pump. Fill a bathtub or pool with water and hold the inner tube under the water. Turn it over and around, and look for bubbles. If you see bubbles, the inner tube has a leak, and you need a different one. An inner tube makes an ideal solar shower, as it is black in color. Black absorbs light and heat very quickly. It also holds approximately 5 gallons of water, which is enough for a thorough washing. Secondly, measure the width of the cork. Measure a distance of 2 inches inward from the outside edge of the inner tube. Make a mark there with the marker. Cut a hole at that mark that is ¼ inch smaller than the width of the cork. Push the cork into the hole. Because the inner tube is flexible, the cork will fit, with the rubber sealing tightly to it. Remove this cork to fill the shower. Put the cork back in after you fill the shower to keep the water from leaking out. Thirdly, measure 2 inches inward from the outside edge of the inner tube, opposite the first hole. Cut a ¼-inch hole at that location. You now have two holes cut into the same face of the inner tube, across from each other. Fourthly, cut the bottom section off of the pipe coupler, using the hacksaw. Cover the ridge of the pipe coupler with the rubber sealer and push it into the ¼-inch hole in the inner tube; the hole will stretch enough to accommodate it. Pull the ridge up against the inside of the inner tube and allow the rubber sealer to dry. The hose will fit over the end of the coupler that sticks out of the inner tube. The coupler provides an easy means of attaching the hose to the inner tube so that the water can drain from the tube out of the hose. Fifthly, abrade the coupler where it comes out of the inner tube, using the emery board. Abrade the inner tube around the coupler. Apply a thin layer of rubber sealer to the roughened patches. Allow it to dry. Apply two more thin coats to the same area, and allow them to dry. Sixthly, coat the end of the pipe coupler with the rubber sealer and slide the tube over it. Coat the fitting on the end of the nozzle with the sealer and slide it into the other end of the tube. Allow the sealer to dry. The ridges on the coupler are now holding the coupler in place on the inner tube. The sealant makes the joint between the tube and the coupler watertight. The flexible tube is fitted over the end of the coupler that sticks out of the inner tube. Water in the inner tube can now drain out of the coupler and into the flexible tube. However, it can only do this when the nozzle on the end of the tube is in the open position. This assembly is the shower's faucet. The flexible tube allows people of different heights to comfortably use the shower without having to stoop or jump for the nozzle.
