Under the US Department of labor rules it is the duty of the employer to ensure the safety of the employees. There are certain guidelines laid down by the department known as OSHA guidelines. Employers should give osha compliance training to their employees in order to avoid unfortunate incidents. According to the Department of Labor provisions, every employee has an inherent right to have safe and healthy circumstances at their work place. OSHA safety manual is designed with this in mind. It is the duty of the employer to enforce the provisions in the guidelines in order to protect his workers from illnesses or injuries that are normally connected to working conditions. If the employees are not given adequate training in this aspect, then employers will be made accountable. Accordion to a survey published by labor department, that there is an amazing 50% drop in fatalities since the implementation of these rules. Advantages There us a considerable drop in accidents that are usually connected with the work place. OSHA authorities will make thorough investigation if an accident occurs and will try to find out whether there was compliance of OSHA rules by the employer. Apart from providing the requisite safety training, the employer must ensure that there are no hazardous things in the work place. If any harmful chemicals are used by the company as raw material, employees should be informed about the hazards and also must be provided with safety methods to overcome such hazards. Duties of Employers and Employees Employees on their part are expected to follow the rules strictly and should wear all the protective gears supplied by the employer for their protection. Employees are expected to report their employers of any new hazards and also to OSHA. Guidelines are issued in the interest of both the employee and the employer. Therefore employers gave the right to know about any inspection prior to it and also to get the report after the inspection as to make amendments to their short comings.
