LED, BULBS AND LIGHTING

Electronics

LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor light source. LEDs are used as indicator lamps in many devices and are increasingly used for other lighting. Early LEDs emitted low-intensity red light, but modern versions are available across the visible, ultraviolet, and infrared wavelengths, with very high brightness. An LED is often small in area, and integrated optical components may be used to shape its radiation pattern. LEDs present many advantages over incandescent light sources including lower energy consumption, longer lifetime, improved physical robustness, smaller size, and faster switching. Light-emitting diodes are used in applications as diverse as aviation lighting, automotive lighting, advertising, general lighting, and traffic signals. LEDs have allowed new text, video displays, and sensors to be developed, while their high switching rates are also useful in advanced communications technology. Infrared LEDs are also used in the remote control units of many commercial products including televisions, DVD players, and other domestic appliances. LEDs powerful enough for room lighting are relatively expensive and require more precise current and heat management than compact fluorescent lamp sources of comparable output. The first commercial LEDs were commonly used as replacements for incandescent and neon indicator lamps, then later in such appliances as TVs, radios, telephones, calculators, and even watches. As LED materials technology grew more advanced, light output rose, while maintaining efficiency and reliability at acceptable levels. The development of the high-power white-light LED to use for illumination, which is fast replacing incandescent and fluorescent lighting.

The Bright green D900 16w LED Down light is the perfect halogen replacement offering DIMMABLE 1:1 light output. At 900 lumens, the D900 is ideal for homes. It offers the same benefits of Halogen with the reduced environmental impact, zero maintenance and low energy consumption that are expected from LED. The D900 includes the fitting, the transformer and a power lead. The Bright green D900 is the world’s first halogen equivalent LED down light. Designed in Australia by Bright green, the luminaries are designed to have minimal environmental impact. Apart from this color there are several other enchanting colors in the market. Purple plastic is often used for infrared LEDs, and most blue devices have clear housings. Modern high power LEDs such as those used for lighting and backlighting are generally found in surface-mount technology. LEDS are mostly used in houses, offices, hospitals, industries, outdoor spaces, weddings etc. Using LED bulbs is an effective way to save energy and money.

LED light bulbs are not only used in home appliances but also used in cars, bars and strips, emergency lighting, flash bulbs, ships. They are of immense use in daily life. The vast majority of devices containing LEDs are "safe under all conditions of normal use". While LEDs have the advantage over fluorescent lamps that they do not contain mercury, they may contain other hazardous metals such as lead and arsenic. LEDs are widely used in strip mounting track. Some of the types are; Slim line 5, slim line 7, Slim Line 15, Round line, flat Line, Archi wall. Advantages of using LEDs are Efficiency, Size, Color, Dimming, Cool Light, Slow failure, Lifetime, Shock resistance and focus. While some of the disadvantages are; High initial price, temperature dependence, voltage dependencies, Area Light source, Blue pollution and droop. LEDs are a good alternate to save energy. Initially the price is high, but after that it consumes less energy and it saves your money and it is a good alternative to fluorescent lights.
