Why Cork Glue Down Tiles Offer Protection to Knees and Joints

Business
When you suffer from joint and knee pain you know how grueling and agonizing it can be to walk on a hard surface. Stone and hardwood flooring can be especially arduous and painful.

Introducing flooring made with cork. We present glue down tiles with a natural cushioning underlay that provides relief to everyone who suffers from such aches and pains. Cork is in fact the flooring of choice for many who suffer from painful joint conditions such as arthritis and osteoarthritis. And with the added advantage of excellent and long-lasting durability, it is increasingly being used in physical therapy clinics and gyms, especially those that focus on Pilates and yoga.

What is the secret behind this type of flooring that makes it a wonder to walk on? The answer lies in the construction of cork itself, and various industry innovations that have upgraded comfort to a new level.

Cork is an all-natural substance. It is basically manufactured from the peeled off bark of the cork oak tree. The bark is ground into small grains, blended with adhesive and placed under high pressure to produce cork sheets. Like a snow flake, no two grain is exactly the same, so the pressed tiles can have different patterns and colors schemes.

The structure of cork is made up of numerous tiny cell constructions that resemble a honeycomb. These cells are filled with air, which give cork flooring its soft feel as well as its resiliency and thermal properties.

When you step onto flooring made of cork glue down tile with underlay, it feels especially soft underfoot. As you add pressure, the air in the cells becomes compressed, and when the foot is lifted, the air springs back into the cells. This unique benefit of cork produces a shock absorbing effect. Instead of your knees or joints taking the impact, cork absorbs and redistributes it and reduces the effect to your body, making cork easier to walk on and easier to stand on for longer periods of time.

The air-filled chambers also cause an insulating effect, which keeps the surface flooring warm, even in winter months. Joint pain suffers know that cold weather brings even more pain and cold floors can be agonizing. One way to alleviate the pain is by raising the thermostat, an expensive solution during the winter months. Cork flooring stays warm even at lower temperatures, providing a painless solution without the accompanying high utility bills.

The other option of course is laying wall to wall carpet. However, while this may be softer on the body and warmer on the bills, the glues that are used contain chemicals that are toxic and the carpet itself can contain indoor allergens and pollutants, including mold, dander and pet hair.

While cork has been used in flooring for a long time, newer innovations have brought about huge improvements along with increased benefits for everybody, especially those who suffer from any type of joint pain.

Cork Floor in the Kitchen offers you several advantages. It is easy to clean and maintain, it helps muffle noises and it has wonderful shock absorbent properties. If you like the idea of having Cork Floor in your house, go to iCork Floor and take a look at their selection.
