Every year, near Halloween, Universal Studios-- the family-fun, cheerful, adventurous park at Universal Orlando Resort-- transforms at twilight into a terrifying, bone-chilling, blood-freezing nightmare called Halloween Horror Nights. The event at the same time takes place in Hollywood, LA. Geared towards grownups, this frightful event is a must-see that also includes haunted houses, shows, and scare zones. This year's dates are: September 21, 22, 27, 28, 29, and 30. October 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, and 31. This event needs a separate ticket. Halloween Horror Nights offers three distinctive terror tactics: shows, haunted houses, and scare zones. The two shows this year have been announced as: - The 20 Penny Circus, featuring "Magic For People With Questionable Taste," new this year. - Bill & Ted's Excellent Halloween Adventure, a regular and very popular show. This year's haunted houses, and the popular part of Halloween Horror Nights, will be: - The Walking Dead: Dead Inside, a new haunted house based on AMC's The Walking Dead. Zombies sneak through the city-- now's the time to put Zombie Apocalypse plans into action! - Silent Hill, the eerie and desolate town that exists in another reality where ash rains down and nameless creatures wander. - Alice Cooper: Welcome To My Nightmare, a twisted journey into legendary Alice Cooper's forty-year career ... and his mind, tormentors and all. - Penn & Teller New(ked) Las Vegas, where Penn & Teller mistakenly nuke Las Vegas ... and now everyone's radioactive. - Gothic, a sanctuary called the Catedral de Caementum Animus where the stone gargoyles come alive at night time to protect against intruders (That means you). - Dead End, the old Hartforf Mansion in Carey, Ohio (an often-used location for many of Universal's creepy stories) is cursed ... and the curse is much more terrible than anyone could have guessed. - Universal's House of Horrors, in which Universal's classic, scary monsters are reanimated from within silver celluloid by lightning. Last but not least, the scare zones, where monsters jump out to attack ... and feast. The "Dark Legions" are as follows: - The Inquitus: These are the dark beings who summoned the Dark Legions. They have been characterized as the "patrons of death," and were the first ones to come out from an old, secret cemetery long since buried. - The Vampires: forced to feed. - The Beasts: commanded to hunt. - The Warriors: Looking for retaliation after dying in battle. - The Prisoners: Women burned alive in prison dying for vengeance ... with chainsaws. - The Traditionals: Timeless monsters born from our dreams. - The Walkers: More undead than just resurrected.
