After an official transfer from Delhi to Mumbai we were trying to get settled in Mumbai. A transfer always involves lot of issues like admissions for your kids in schools and colleges. It also involves getting acquainted with the lifestyle of the new city. Our family got settled fast in this city and luckily we managed to befriend some families in our neighborhood. We knew that making friends in a totally new city can be very much helpful. After a few months when we had more close relations with the neighbors, they informed us that they are going to visit Shirdi and if interested we also can join them. This was the best opportunity for us to visit the most popular religious place near Mumbai. We instantly agreed to accompany them during their visit to Shirdi. Our language problem was tackled since we were accompanying the Marathi speaking family. Mr. Godbole told us that attending the Thursday early mornings Kakad Aarti was supposed to be a great ritual for the devotees of Shri Sai Baba. That means we were supposed to leave for Shirdi on Wednesday so that we can attend the early morning Aarti. Since hotels in Shirdi provide the online hotel booking facility our hotel was booked online by the Godbole family. The travelling & accommodation for two families was arranged by Mr. Godbole. We were in great spirits for the first ever travelling experience in Maharashtra. Finally after curious waiting, the day arrived when we started for Shirdi on a sunny Wednesday morning. The travelling was much comfortable as it was a Volvo bus going from Mumbai to Shirdi. We reached Shirdi in the evening and after getting refreshed in the hotel out of curiosity went out to see the surroundings. The budget hotel in which we were supposed to stay was in the vicinity of the Saibaba temple. We experienced the grace of Saibaba filled in the atmosphere. There were many other budget hotels near Shirdi temple occupied by devotees. We returned back soon for dinner as we were supposed to attend the next day early morning Aarti of Saibaba. The rooms of the hotel in which we stayed were spacious, neat and clean. Dinner was completely vegetarian and we came to know from our neighbors that hotels near Shirdi temple provide vegetarian food in order to preserve the sanctity of the place. Next day early morning we were at the queue of the Saibaba temple waiting for our turn to get blessings of the powerful deity. After taking darshan we went back to our hotel for lunch. Luckily the hotels restaurant was multi cuisine with options of Maharashtrian, Gujarati and South Indian food. Even though our own Gujarati food was available we tried the delicious Maharashtrian food for a change. In the evening while going around the streets of Shirdi we purchased many farm fresh fruits. They even told us about Shani- Shingnapur temple, located at around 60 km from Shirdi. They said since it is considered to visit this temple on Saturdays they didn’t plan visiting this temple on this visit.
