If we say that Notre Dame De Paris is the symbol of ancient Paris, and then the Eiffel Tower is the symbol of modern Paris. Located in the south bank of Seine, the center of Paris, Eiffel Tower is the first high tower in the world, which was structured by steel. Hence, you can not miss it if you visit Paris. Originally, the Eiffel Tower was built to hold world’s fair in Paris and it was named after its architect Steve.Eiffel. On January, 26th, 1887, the construction began, and in March, 1889, the Eiffel Tower was finished and then it was open to the public on May, 15th, 1889. Until now, it has a long history of more than one hundred year. Like Notre Dame De Paris, Louvre, triumphal arch and the Champs Elysees, it has become a landmark building in Paris. Now, I would like to introduce this great architect behind this great tower firstly. Born in a eastern city of France in 1832, his father was a civil servant in the army, and his mother was an imaginative woman. In the midd-19th century, Napoleon’s first Empire, the French Economy was at a recession. In order to get rid of poverty, his mother decided to bear the burden of life and to be engaged in a coal stack. Hence, she handed Eiffel over to his grandmother, who was very kind and scrupulous. Because he was greatly impressed by his mother and grandmother’s education, Eiffel was independent, studious and imaginative, which laid a sold foundation for his being an excellent engineer. In his twelve years old, he entered a royal middle school to study. At first, his study wasn’t good and he wasn’t admitted to the famous French Engineering School. However, he didn’t give up and review his lessons hard. Finally, he was admitted to an art school, which aimed to develop engineers. After graduating from it, one friend of Eiffel introduced him to be an engineer in the western Railway Bureau. From then on, he stepped on a road of working hard as an architectural engineer and made great contributions to human being’s development. It is no deny that the completion of the Eiffel Tower have made Eiffel famous in the engineering. After reading this article, do you get interested in famous towers like Eiffel Tower?
