WESTLAKE, OH--May 5, 2012: TravelCenters of America, LLC(TravelCenters), operator of TA and Petro Stopping Centers brandedtravel centers, presented a BP Fueling Communities grant donationof $30,000 to The St. Christopher Truckers Development & ReliefFund (SCF). TravelCenters, a BP Branded Marketer, nominated SCF toreceive the grant for the second consecutive year. FuelingCommunities provides grants to local organizations that arenominated by BP's Branded Marketers to support the communities where they do business. TA and Petro customers and employees also have contributed $4,700in additional donations. Professional drivers contributed nearly$2,000 at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky. inMarch. TA dedicated a large section of its show booth to SCF, anonprofit organization that provides assistance to professionaltruck drivers whose medical problems have led to financialhardship. Employees of TravelCenters gave another $2,700 indonations through a variety of company events. "We were very happy to hear that BP was continuing its FuelingCommunities program this year," said Tom O'Brien, TravelCentersPresident and CEO. "Through TravelCenters' nominations, BP hasdonated a total of $60,000 over two years to SCF. These dollars areused to help truck drivers without health insurance, who aresuffering financial hardship. BP's help allows us to provide evengreater support to our customer base." TravelCenters has provided support to the SCF since 2010. Thecompany runs annual "Band Together for the SCF" fundraisingcampaigns, in addition to smaller collection efforts at tradeshowsand employee events throughout the year. TravelCenters has helpedraise nearly $500,000 for the charity. SCF provides financial support to professional drivers to puttoward prescription medications, living expenses, and medicalprocedures. "I can't express how happy we are to have this support again fromthe BP Fueling Communities program," said Dr. Donna Kennedy,Executive Director of SCF. "Our relationship with TravelCenters hasmade it possible for SCF to help more than 530 professional driverssince SCF began in 2007." TravelCenters will have its SCF donation prize wheel at this year'sTruckers' Jamboree at the TA in Walcott, Iowa on July 12 and 13,the Expedite Expo in Wilmington, Ohio on July 27 and 28 and theGreat American Trucking Show in Dallas on August 23-25. Donationsto the SCF can also be made directly at Truckers' Fund .
