There is a salubrious part of London that has emerged as a stomping ground for some of the world’s most famous footballers. The reason that the football players love this corner of London is because of its easy “commute to work.” Take a journey down West Heath Road past some of the homes in Hampstead, NW3 and you will probably bump into a Premiership footballer. The surrounding streets of this neighbourhood have become the place to live if you play, or have played in the past, for Arsenal. The reason that the footballers like the area so much is not just because of the size of the houses but also the fact that it is situated in halfway between the Emirates Stadium in Holloway Road, N7 and the training ground of Arsenal which is at London Colney which is found off the A41. The first Arsenal player or manager to buy a property in the area was George Graham, Arsenal manager from 1986 to 1995 and former player at the club. He initially bought an apartment in Oakhill Avenue, NW3 before moving to a fantastic house in Eden Close which is an exclusive cul-de-sac in the area. Following Graham was Thierry Henry who decided to buy a property in Templewood Avenue. Patrick Viera then decided to follow suit and bought a property in Branch Hill. Freddie Ljungberg has bought a property in the exclusive Bishop’s Avenue and Samir Nasri has bought a house in Wellgarth Road. Even players who have since left the club have decided not to sell their homes in this area as they keep them as their London base. Take for example Cesc Fabregas, who now plays for Barcelona and Nasri mentioned who now plays for Manchester City. Robin Van Persie, Arsenal’s top goal scorer has also bought a house on West Heath Road. Football agent Darren Dein is also living in the area, although he has decided to rent at the moment in a new development just off West Heath Road. A house in the area will cost you around £3.5million, a house near to where footballer William Gallas lives at Elm Walk is on the market for this amount. The house is a double fronted five bedroom neo Georgian detached. Opposite is the X Factor house which the 2010 contestants lived in during the show. New Tottenham Hotspur signing Emmanuel Adebayor is reportedly interested in a 5,000sqft house containing six bedrooms and a football pitch sized garden on West Heath Road for £6.5million. http://www.uklandforsale.org http://www.buildingplotsforsale.org
