Which Glasses Are Best For Your Face-Shape?

Fashion & Cosmetics
Are you completely stumped when it comes to the style of glasses that will compliment your face? Enjoy this simple guide to help choose the perfect frame for you!

Buying new glasses can bring on a lot of added stress. Aside from insuring that the prescription comes out perfectly, the choice of frames alone is enough to make you go crazy! Don’t let your next eyeglass-shopping experience be ruined! There are very simple guidelines when it comes to face shape and frame structure compatibility. Generally speaking, the most important rule is to be sure that they contrast each other nicely. Typically face frames can be broken down into four main categories: square, round, heart-shaped, and oval. Let’s explore the options.

Square
Usually the most notable attribute for those with square faces is a very distinct jaw-line: strong and compelling. Like a square, the overall the length and width of the facial structure are fairly relative; and they are typically categorized with broad foreheads. For this kind of framework, it’s best to try rounded-but rectangular or oval lenses. This softens the solid features a bit. If you’re looking for something a tad more fun, try something with a cat-eye. Ultimately be sure that the frames are generally longer, rather than taller.

Round
Similar to the attributes that square faces have, round faces are also typically proportional in width and length; however the corners curve into each other a bit more, for a less rugged look. As the shape is rounded and the edges generally soft, you’ll want a deep contrast in sharp angles. Add definition to your face with strict geometric shapes. Again, like the rule for square faces, be sure to keep your lenses rectangular - more horizontal than vertical - as this will give you a longer, slimmer face overall.

Heart-Shaped
Getting the name from the commercialized heart we all know and love - heart-shaped faces typically have a wider forehead and high cheekbones with a narrow chin and jaw lines. This is one facial structure that can be a bit more difficult to frame because of it’s contrasting sizes. You’ll want something to offset the narrow chin, so try cat-eye or butterfly style frames. These can both add definition and bring attention up towards your eyes. Alternatively, the narrow chin may go better with a contrasting frame that is a bit wider at the bottom. You definitely have some wiggle room when it comes to this face shape. The main rule is to be sure not to exaggerate the widest point of your face. Try finding frames with lower temples; this could definitely help!

Oval
Unfortunately for all of the other face shapes, oval faces reap the most benefits - at least when it comes to eyeglasses! With a narrow chin and forehead, and commonly high cheek bones, the nice symmetry and soft look is blessed with the opportunity for any style of glasses frames! The main rule when it comes to oval faces is to not let the frames take over. Oftentimes oval faces display smaller features, so while you have freedom to experiment frame styles, just remember that you don’t want your frames to overpower your look!

Well there it is! Everything you’ll ever need to know about how to choose the best glasses frames for your needs is right here! The best advice to give, however, is to go out and try on different styles - following these tips, of course. If you’d like to really mix it up, you can get some cheap glasses. This way you’ll have several different colors and styles of the same shape frames. Be sure to follow this tutorial for the best result!
