The constant mass killings of dolphins at Taiji in Japan displays a total disconcern with the immorality of animal cruelty and must surely be an international embrassament for the Japanese Government. It's an horrific scene to watch as dolphins are trapped in a cove and beaten and spiked to death. The whole sea area there turns totally red with the poor creatures blood. Arogant Taiji fishermen, totally disregarding world opinion against the dolphin slaughtering and even with foreign animal protectiionists present and watching, continue with their murdering of entire dolphin pods, incuding babies. They even laugh at the weeping foreigners. I understand the meat is sold in Japan, often as whale meat but I'm told that both dolphin and whale meat have high levels of mercury so this raises the question - what the hell is the Japanese Government doing to protect the health of its people? It's bad enough that we have a world factory farm food industry responsible for the greatest animal cruelty in the history of the planet as cows, sheep, pigs, poultry and other poor creatures are tortured daily with no rights to protect them. Ask these Taiji fishermen why they do this and I'm sure they'll tell you "We have to make a living". Well in my book their murder of dolphin mammals is not fishing. It's mass slaughter. Let them go out to sea and fish or, better still, let the Japanese Government initiate alternative employment for these heartless people. From reports I've seen most Japanese don't know about these mass dolphin killings or how the mercury meat is being sold to them. People interviewed in Tokyo did not have a clue and I suspect the Japanese Government and news media are not wanting them to know what a bad reputation Japan is getting because of this animal cruelty. I've written to the Japanese Prime Minister. I've signed petitions and Tweeted and Facebooked my protests like thousands of other civilised humans but so far I've not heard one word of response. Well, Japan, you better do someting about it. Like other people I've stopped buying Japanese products, I will not be holidaying in Japan,or flying by Japanese airlines. Worst of all the deep affection I have developed for Japan over the years is waning. There another aspect too. This killing of the dolphins could bring you a very bad karma. At the end of this life you may have to account for what you have done to a very high authority whom I'm told is an avid animal lover. See James Larkin's site at http://pet-patter.blogspot.com
