Five Questions Your Recruitment Website Design Firm Should Be Asking

Are you a recruitment company with a need for a new website? Have you found yourself in the position of shopping for a recruitment website design firm?

There are many different companies that design websites. Have they ever built a website for a recruitment company before? Do they understand the recruitment industry? Does their website integrate with your database?

These are all important questions to ask your website designer, but what about the questions that they should be asking you?

If your web designer hasn't asked you these questions yet, and you are midway through the project, you might want to give them a call and make sure that they are paying full attention to you.

WHAT TYPE OF RECRUITMENT COMPANY ARE YOU?

There are quite a few different kinds of recruitment companies. While most serve a variety of industries, almost every recruitment company has a certain industry that it serves best. Do you recruit mostly for warehouses or for offices? Are you a medical recruitment firm or do you mostly employ welders? This is probably the most important question a design firm could ask because if they don't know this, your website is going to be generic looking.

WHY DO PEOPLE DO BUSINESS WITH YOU?

There are thousands of recruitment companies in the United States alone. There are probably at least 4 or 5 in your market right now. Why should a prospect choose you over your competition? If you don't know the answer, think about it now. If you do, make sure your web designer does too. Your website should always tell the visitor what makes you different than your competition.

WHAT DO YOU WANT YOUR WEBSITE VISITORS TO DO?

This seems really simple, because it is, but many designers forget to ask this question. When someone comes to your website, there has to be a desired action. Do you want them to fill out a form? Do you want them to email you? Call you? Sign up for the newsletter? Your website should always be directing your visitors to do what you want. Otherwise, what's the point?

WHAT WEBSITES COMPETE FOR YOUR CUSTOMER'S ATTENTION?

Online, competition is everything. Your designer has to know what you're up against. Remember, there are lots of choices out there! Your new staffing website design HAS TO BE BETTER than your competitors. If your designer hasn't asked this question he/she is probably going through the motions.

DO YOU NEED A JOB BOARD, OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF WEB PORTALS?

A simple e-brochure is fine, but interactive features take your recruitment website to the next level. Almost every job seeker has been searching for jobs online for years now. They are used to having job boards and the ability to apply online. If you don't incorporate these features into your recruitment website, you are already behind.

OTHER IMPORTANT QUESTIONS

· What is the single most important thing that you want the audience to know about your recruitment company?

· How will you measure success? Number of hits? Number of qualified leads?

· What do you want your visitor to feel immediately upon loading your website?

· What are some of your favorite recruitment websites?

You should always feel comfortable speaking with your web design firm. Sometimes ideas are hard to put into words, and you need to feel like your web design firm will listen, care and understand. Nothing is worse than having your web designer try to squelch your creativity, or even do it by accident because you just don't seem to speak the same language.

If you're buying a new recruitment website right now and your designer hasn't asked these questions, call him or her now and have a talk about your marketing goals. If your designer isn't aware of these things, you won't get the most bang for your buck.
