Many people across the country feel like the current state of politics is leaving many of the rights guaranteed by The Constitution and The Declaration of Independence in danger. From sea to shining sea, in New York, Seattle, and Minneapolis Civil Rights are still of great interest to our nation’s population. There’s a common saying that history repeats its self, and that proves to be true time and time again. Our country has made some great improvements over the years. We’ve overcome slavery and we’ve given women more equality when it comes to working outside the home. These are successes that should be celebrated rather than forgotten. These are the kinds of successes that we should strive to repeat as we continue to make history in our country. Unfortunately, many people are still feeling that this isn’t a country where all people are truly treated equally. Many minorities still feel like they are the underdogs in our society. They feel that every day they are trying to climb up a muddy and slippery uphill slope where they have to fight to make any progress. In a world that’s in economic upheaval, any sort of inequality puts an individual at a great disadvantage. As if life isn’t already hard enough for everyone, we have some people that feel like they’re walking around with the extra baggage of prejudice every day. Protecting Minneaoplis civil rights as well as the rights of individuals across the country takes a group effort. All people everywhere need to do their part to respect those that they come into contact with. We can all make a difference in this world if we are willing to help lift someone’s burden instead of making it heavier.
