Neanderthal versus Cro-magnon Ancestor Lost link or ever present in our flesh and blood? May he rest in peace - or say so all of us, but is it really true when we talk of the demise of that stunningly powerful and mentally well endowed Neanderthal ? The answers are far from clear and something very much like a badly cut jigsaw piece seems not to fit all that has been officially said about this complex and peculiar man that most would vow never entered our bloodline. Did Neanderthal man just scrape past our historical genetic tree or was he the father (definitely not mother apparently if the characteristics of the female line mitochondria is anything to go by) of the most powerful beings that ever walked this earth ? In fact, can we really trust present day scientific assertions that he or she, fled to extinction at the hands of the superior African derivative of Homo Sapiens Sapiens, Cro magnon or what we now describe as modern man? There is a disquieting feeling among the knowledge seekers of this world that the scientific world is too embedded in the rails of the strict academic approach to the subject to be able to provide clear evidence either of the demise or the continued existence within our genes of Neanderthal Man. Was he such a primitive apelike creature as most make him out to be ? Why is he described as tall and powerful by some with a larger than modern average brain ? Why do the reconstructions available in many a glass case in modern museums of Natural History depict him with such a very Northern European appearance? Hundreds of questions seem to hide answers. Yet for the scientific community in general he appeared and went his way without entering the human genetic descent. Did he just do that ? There are now belated stirrings of academic doubt which would suggest that these sums have been got together a little too hastily and that perhaps he not only mingled and interbred with Cro-magnon (virtually modern man) but he has genetic predominance in some of the races and peoples of the world. A change of view. Why has this vision of the man been gradually modified through the ages ? In fact, why is there no genetic fingerprint that determines a degree of his survival in us when much points to the fact that the characteristics of the being, including his build and general sentiments find echoes in many of our racial sectors today. The Scandinavians and indeed the Germanic races somehow tell us that Neanderthal man played an important part in the transition from African and black to white and suspiciously Nordic. The ridge at the back of the head and the chin formation that may have brought about the expression “chinless wonder”, points in that direction, but the genetic studies of the mitochondria remain silent. Why? Additionally it is not so difficult to see the characteristics of this seemingly badly interpreted offshoot of our ancestral hominids in unusual offspring of generally dissimilar parentage worldwide. Could this mean that the genes are there and play a part in their descent every now and then and could this betray a neurological difference that could shape uncharacteristic behaviour patterns like irrationality or severe aggresiveness? Everything is possible, but then Neanderthal Man may not have been the savage that many attempt to trace in him. In fact his graves have portrayed one very startling factor – that he put flowers in them and decorated them with affection. Hardly a monster and perhaps that is where the great mystery lies. The study of the descent of Neanderthal into our genetic pool has been badly neglected for reasons one can only imagine has to do with prejudice. What race for example would want to be identified with what apparently was still an ape as early or late as 50,000 years ago ? Perhaps to the African man with his dark swarthy negroid features, low stature and apelike upright walk, who populated the prehistoric world and gathered in places that later become Mesopotamia and Sumeria, he was frightening ? Perhaps among the evolving Hittites and Hurrians, the very idea of such a monster with reddish hair who hid from them was thought of as a threat and may even have still been in existance ? What about Big Foot who sounds like him ? Nothing along those lines has ever been studied in terms of possibilities to determine cross breeding, but it seems without doubt that there was such an event which has been partially confirmed by studies which determine, at least 1 -4 % genetic remains of the giant ape in all Asiatics and European men. And only a few years ago ! In fact the translation from the ape gait and awkward walk of the early Homo Sapiens Sapiens with the low stature and barrel chest to the fairly flat-chested tall, lighter skinned sometimes red haired man, not to mention the Mongoloids, required some sort of homespun being already evolving in isolation, to bring about the variety of racial types. Alternatively the age of man has to be taken back much much further than the two or three million years that separate us from the apes, like Lucy of Ethiopia. And consequently, the rapid descent of modern man and his variety of racial differentiations could not go back a mere 100,000 years. Nothing makes sense in this direction and thereby hangs the clue that the scientific community does not like to have its nose rubbed in the mud and perhaps it is clear anthropologically that Neanderthal not only helped to shape our varieties, but could still be walking among us fairly closely. This apparently is the theory today. Strange ancient writings. In the 19th. Century a French Priest associated with the mysteries of Renne le Château which gave birth to Dan Brown´s potboiler novel, wrote what some consider a weird book. He titled it “Le Vrai Langue Celtique” Apart from what many consider hilarious nonsense, there are many odd references here and there that point to a deeper understanding of a subject meant for those with the fertile mind to make it grow. He was after all too much of a brilliant scholar with awards to his credit, to be the cretin the book implies. He tells us of the remains of primitive men in the high levels of the mountains of Norway and calls them Coquillers. What apparently astounds the scientific community is not the fact that they appear to feed mainly on shellfish, hence the name. What is most extraordinary to them and us of course, is the fact that among the remains are shellfish that do not belong to that part of the world. The mind boggles. Shellfish from different parts of the world suggest traders with knowledge of conservation. In fact a sophisticated breed hardly consistant with these early vestiges of mankind, Are we therefore in complete ignorance of the developing strains of man and perhaps the existence at a very early stage of varying degrees of evolutionary and socially organised peoples who could have helped to shape the very many racial types we have today ? Could this contribute to the solution of the mystery of the supposed sudden and dramatic extinction of the hapless Neanderthal Man ? It most certainly could, but perhaps an answer may lie in the way that Neanderthal man could have broken into our gene circle. Since it is the mitochondria which betrays the ancestry of all through the female line, it is possible that Neanderthal man was the Adam prototype and Eve the Cro-magnon. If powerful but noble Neanderthals hounded by the warlike vicious African species kept their distance but were seduced by the characteristics of their shapely females, it is possible that they may have systematically raped them and perhaps sent them back to their menfolk with child. Neanderthals have been shown to have possessed not only large highly developed brains, but a degree of artistry and sentiment that does not appear to find an echo among the ruthless hunter cromagnons. In fact they are described by some scholars as not having the heart or inclination to hunt large animals by virtue, one supposes, of their passivity. They may have even been vegetarians judging from their teeth and could very easily have planned their descent, like Romulus and the Sabines through the rape of their neighbour´s womenfolk, when they were high in their intoxications (if they took such things) or even perhaps taken by the more intelligent seducers, when their folk were out hunting or asleep. If all births from Neanderthals, came from Cro-magnon women, it would explain not only our racial varieties by dissemination of genes differences, but the development of a race of men with powerful bodies and minds who could have proven better warriors and broken away from the more apelike gait and appearance of the Cromagnon which is still visible today in the Southern races. Perhaps climate was not the Darwinian selection factor but the attraction to a hairless or hairy type of hot or cold territories in accordance with the same choices that some of us face today. The further south we go, it is agreed, the greater the apparent Cro-magnon link. The further North, the Neanderthal as per the Vikings par excellence. It would further explain the hastily prepared but unlikely question of black and white skin climatic evolutionary principle. If white, black and other skin colours and hair types emerged from the blending of two distinct and parallel species (a Northern and Southern one) and each individual offspring, culture permitting, chose which latitudes to live in, close (among themselves) and outside (local racial) interbreeding could produce a whole new variety of distinctive features. But would this male Neanderthal and female Cro.Magnon explain the lack of genetic markers in the mitochondria which defied the theory of the intrusion of the Neanderthal ? Some academics think so but the doubt remains. With the female being Cromagnon in all cases and no Cromagnon male desiring or perhaps not being able to sire Neanderthal children, the female mitochondria utilised to establish genetic descent would most probably, not betray the Neanderthal presence. However since the discovery of the Neanderthal presence in the French studies by other means, this is no longer an issue. Tantalizing evidence of a lost origin ? In a very ancient stele found in Iran by an archaeological team also involved in the finding of the first famous Ziggurat, a very interesting translation was published in a book called “The Genius of the Few” The disturbing content is no work of fiction but a very concise (although some may say exaggerated) interpretation of the cuneiform writing which to all intents and purpose is a detailed less mythologised, version of what we call the happenings of the Garden of Eden. In fact the place where these events apparently took place, was and still is called Edhin. The book goes as far as to draw a plan out of the existence of this mountain top settlement in which the camp commanders follow the line of the Archangels “Annanage - on the stele” with similar names and the exile of one of them (Lucifer) for daring to break the taboo on mating with what they call “the lowlanders”. The settlement lacks, it would seem, the capacity and strength to continue with the heavy work in the garden settlement which incorporates a reservoir and a dam. The idea is put around in view of what seems to be a very long mission, that a controlled genetic union with the lowland womenfolk, could produce a hybrid with the characteristics of both. Perhaps the idea was to capture and breed with the lowland women (Cro- Magnons?) and perhaps select only those with the required development. Whatever, the chiefs of the encampment whom the stone describes as “Lordlings” are required to provide seed for what appears to be artificial insemination. One of the Lordings or Archangels dares to seduce one of the captive lowland women and he is banished. It is a fascinating scene of a potential emergence of a highly evolved modern man and even perhaps the first of the cultivators of the Taurus mountains since it is on the mountain plains of Pamir where both biblical myth and Iranian stele writings coincide. But that is not all, for in the old testament, the angry cries of the ancient prophets against the blasphemy of the “daughters of men breeding with the beasts”, are heard loud and clear. Obviously the concept of the blending of two distinct and unacceptable strains of man is not such a modern line of thought after all. What matters is whether we are denying ourselves the pleasure of knowing where the reality of our existance starts and fantasy ends. ,
