The difference between Wi-Fi Xoom and Xoom 3G/4G? Motorola Xoom 3G-4G and Xoom Wi-Fi are the Xoom tablet variations released by Motorola. Motorola Xoom is the award winning tablet introduced at the CES 2011 in Las Vegas showcasing the best of Android 3.0 Honeycomb. Motorola originally released the 3G-4G model for US carrier Verizon’s 3G-CDMA network with a promised upgrade to 4G-LTE in May 2011. The Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi models are released globally starting from March 2011. The only difference between Motorola Xoom 3G-4G and Xoom Wi-Fi is the connectivity. Motorola Xoom 3G-4G has the CDMA/LTE radios to support 3G/4G network whereas Xoom Wi-Fi depends only on the Wi-Fi hotspots to connect to internet. How to upgrade/convert Wi-Fi Xoom to Xoom 3G? As we mentioned that leave the connectivity, both devices carry the same features. So, can we upgrade the Wi-Fi only Xoom to 3G connectivity by hardware? Yes, what you could do is get a Mobile WiFi Hotspot, I think they're call MiFi or 3G Router and are available in 3G and 4G from different providers. This will allow you to have your laptop and Xoom get internet connection on the go. 3G wireless mobile Wi-Fi hotspot  The 3G mobile Wi-Fi hotspot is a kind of mini wireless router which can generate Wi-Fi signal by insert a SIM card, it can convert 3G connection into Wi-Fi signal and share with up to 8 users. And it is often classified by download speed: 3.6Mbps 3G Router, 7.2Mbps 3G Router and 21Mbps 3G Router. PS: 3G USB modem will not fit on the Xoom as Xoom is not a USB host. But if you don’t want to waste the modem you can also get your modem be attached to a 3G Router Base (should be compatible with your Modem) and it can turn the 3G Modem into a 3G Router. The other option is to use your 3G Smartphone (which contains the personal wifi hotspot feature) as a mobile wifi hotspot for your tablet. This will be more convenient if you just want to use your tablet for simple purpose like email, Web Browsing, etc, because Smartphone hotspot can’t provides high connection speed and multiple users is also depends, but it will be one less device to carry around and you won't need the mifi when using just the Smartphone. iPhone Personal Hotspot
