A biannually polishing ensures that these pieces look their best at all times. This item has adapted well to the changes of time, even being used today as popular beach decor. Modern metals resistant to the ocean’s salt spray are used today, such as stainless steel. These items are also often made to be water proof as well as water tight. Many items of this make are often customized by the owner. Many people take to carving their initials into the soft metal, thereby putting a ‘name tag’ on them. In lieu of portability, many spyglasses are segmented to collapse into a smaller size. Smooth spyglasses without segments will oftentimes have more decoration than the segmented type simply because the latter can’t collapse properly with decorations on it.
