The Hitcher, year 2007's version of the horror film of the same name, came out on DVD on May 1, featuring a collection bonus features that horror fanatics will surely clamor for. It contains the usual deleted scenes comprised of over twenty minutes of cut scenes and an ending that didn't pass regulatory boards (too scary for words!), Road Kill: The Ultimate Car Crash, which covers all the massive car stunts featured in the film, Fuel Your Fear which narrates the making of the movie, and Chronicles of a Killer, the intricate story of the cunning serial murderer. For all these great features plus the movie itself, the DVD costs $20.99, and the HD/DVD combo costs $39.98. The Hitch's cast is comprised of stars such as Sophia Bush (One Tree Hill) playing Grace Andrews, one of the two teens being tormented by the mysterious hitchhiker/serial killer John Ryder (played by Sean Bean) and Zachary Knighton who plays Grace's boyfriend, Jim Halsey. The production of the movie with actors such as Bush spawned from her friendship with director Dave Meyers, who is widely known for creating commercials and music videos. In an interview, Meyers told About.com that he met Bush on the set of One Tree Hill where she plays Brooke Davis, and got along with her very well. Meyers believes that Bush has a strong talent for acting in horror movies, as she was very emotional and engaging. Bush was definitely his first choice to play Grace Andrews, whom Meyers described as an "empowered female". Much to the puzzlement of fans and audiences alike, The Hitcher's DVD copy doesn't have Meyers' commentary in it, although he clarified that it was not a fruit of a conflict between him and the producers of the film. Meyers also expressed his puzzlement as to why no one asked him to be involved in the DVD, though he says there was never any reason for him to believe that there were conflicts of interest for both sides of the party.
