Since the best time to fix teeth alignment problems is while a patient is young, most kids go to the orthodontist at a fairly young age in order to fix any problems that are developing with their teeth. That means that most kids begin wearing orthodontic correction, such as braces, during their adolescent years. The adolescent years are a tough time for any kid. Peer pressure and self-esteem issues plague most teenagers. These formative years are hard enough to navigate without having a smile packed full of metal. That's why many parents of adolescent teens are looking for other orthodontic options. For many years the most common type of braces used in orthodontics were metal brackets attached to the teeth with a strong adhesive. Although these types of braces can get the job done, they can be painful and intrusive, especially to an adolescent. Fortunately, there are other options. Some orthodontic options that have gained in popularity in recent years are invisible braces. This technique uses a series of plastic aligners to assist in the realignment of a patient's teeth, rather than intrusive metal brackets. Because these braces use thin, clear plastic for the job, they are hard to detect when worn by the patient. They are also easy to remove and clean. Another option is an aligner that is worn only a few hours during the day, such as a myobrace. Myobraces are worn a couple hours a day and into the night so that the patient doesn't have to have any visible braces during the daylight hours. If you're the parent of a child looking for better options, consider one of these orthodontic options. About The Author: No Brace Place put our patients first. Not only do we offer quality general dentistry such as providing myobrace but we are very unique in our orthodontic idea as we aim to straightening teeth without braces.
