A new coat of paint can give a room a fresh look that can't be achieved in any other way. But a poor paint job can be more of an eyesore than an improvement or makeover. If you are thinking of painting a room in your house then you need to know a few important things before you begin. By following these steps, you can create a fine paint job that any professional painter or painting contractor would be proud of. First, before you begin any painting project it's important to look for any holes in the walls caused by nails or screws. Pull out any existing nails and screws using a drill, hammer, or screwdriver. Patch the holes with nail hole filler. You can pick up a tube or tub of it at any home improvement store. Ask the painting expert at the store which filler they recommend. Apply the filler using a spackling knife and make sure it's smooth. Make sure the filler sits for the recommended drying time before beginning the next step. Now put down painter's plastic on the floors and tape it to the floor using blue painter's tape. Painter's tape is secure but won't leave any residue behind when you take it off. Now, take a sanding block and sand away any excess nail hole filler before you begin. Wipe away the dust with a clean damp cloth and wait for the walls to dry. Now your walls are prepped and ready so you can go ahead and get out the paint. Allegro Painting is one of the top painting contractors Edmonton has to offer.
