I can think of very few joys as profound as boating. And when the boat has an electric motor, and you can simply rev up the engine and rush out into the sea, then the pleasure gets increased manifold. To begin with that I like about electric outboard boating is that fact that you are on water. Sounds obvious right? But we terrestrial creatures have a tough time getting off the ground. Being in air in a place is not the same thing, as commercial airliners themselves present a (usually) stable floor. The magic of being in a boat is the rhythm that the moving water provides you. As the see sways, so do you. It gets to be poetic as you, and the boat, and the see sway with each other in a holy rhythm. So why do more people not go out and start boating. The answer is in the inconvenience one has to go though to get started. Sure, you do not need to buy a boat, but you need to access one. Then there is the issue of where one would go to boat. One cannot simply go to any water body as there might be permissions involved. Add to that the limited luxuries and amenities that most boats will provide. You need to be equipped with all kinds of provisions, devices, gadgets and equipment. These are some of the factors that prevent people from boating. But once one can get that outboard purring, it is the beginning of a romance between you and the elements of nature. When I am out at sea in my boat, I really feel that I have conquered heaven and earth. More specifically the sea and its many mysteries. If you have not yet been out to sea, you do not know what you are missing. Try it out once and I bet you that you will not be able to stop yourself from going out to sea again and again. It is the lure of the unknown that beckons you. On the one hand the elements are not really under your control as you get tossed around a bit. On the other, you try to wrestle with the situation and control it. Sometimes it seems like a man vs. sea situation; at other times, it seems like it is man and sea dancing together in an amazing rhapsody. So, I repeat, yet again, if you have not been out to sea, then it is high time you did that. I have come across many lists that claim to detail activities that one must do before one dies. Most of them tend to be exotic and esoteric. But, I think what we really need to do is the simple activities in life, which though accessible to most, are indulged in by a few. One of the prime examples of such an activity is, you guessed it, boating.
