Oak Floors Online: Acclimatisation is Vital for Successful Oak Flooring Installation

Home Improvement,Home Repair,Advertising
In today’s modern world, there is a somewhat unhealthy obsession with speed. Everything needs to be done as quickly as possible, waiting just isn’t acceptable. But what’s the rush? Some things need time to settle and grow in order to appreciate their true value.

One of those things is a quality oak wood floor. Those who experience problems with their oak wood flooring are quick to blame the quality of the product, when in reality, the most common reasons for post-installation issues are inadequate subflooring, or not allowing enough time for the floor to acclimatise to its new surroundings.

Before installation, the oak wood should be stored in the room where it is to be laid, so as it can rach equilibrium with its surroundings. The room should be totally dried out before introducing the wood flooring, to a level that is consistent with the room’s normal settings. Any moisture in the room could cause problems with the oak wood floor in the future.

Avoid stacking the wood packs near any sources of heat, and make sure they are stored in a way to allow air to circulate around them for a number of days before installation. A minimum of seven days is recommended before installing your oak wood floor, however, each acclimatisation period can be different depending on the surroundings.

Once you have dried out the room where the wood will be installed, check the moisture levels at regular intervals. When the levels remain consistent for more than three days, the room has reached its equilibrium and you can now introduce the oak wood to the room. The oak flooring should remain stacked in the room for at least seven days, then you should check the moisture levels as before. When the levels of the wood are the same as the room for more than three days, the installation can finally begin.

As you can see, the proper installation of an oak wood floor can be pretty time-consuming. However, if you want to avoid problems with your flooring in the future, then the correct acclimatisation procedure is vital to a successful oak wood floor installation.

Whichever type of oak floor finish you choose, it is important that you buy from the right supplier. Oak Floors Online specialises in top quality oak flooring and prides itself on over-delivering when it comes to customer service and quality of product. A recent survey revealed that 96% of their customers would recommend Oak Floors Online to their family and friends.

What’s more, Oak Floors Online are the only retailers in the UK to offer a lifetime quality guarantee on all of their oak floors. This means that, should you experience any problems with your floor at any point, and those problems are proven to relate to a fault within the structure or quality of the product itself, Oak Floors Online will replace the entire floor, no questions asked.
