Chicken carp baits are very popular today as readymade baits, but have you ever wondered how to make them yourself and save a fortune?! Read on and your big carp and catfish will soon be hooked on your very own outstanding economical homemade baits and will even out-fish readymade baits too! So you think it might be a great competitive money-saving edge to make your very own secret baits for carp, catfish, specimen barbel etc. Far too many anglers today simply relay on readymade baits for pure convenience without realising the enormous savings you can achieve by making your own baits, but much more than this, the incredible competitive edges and awesome catches homemade baits produce. After all the leading bait companies are inevitably led by guys who began making their own homemade baits in their kitchens – so this can definitely be the start of big things for you too! Although certain commercial carp bait makers who plug their own profiles and products by writing highly selective articles seem to love promoting the use of fish meals, they completely ignore the fact that very many of these are in short supply directly because they are unsustainable in terms of supply because so many fish stocks are in danger of extinction in the next few decades. Of course there are certain types of fish meals that are not in short supply but in many cases this is directly due to lack of predation and additional natural resources being made increasingly available by the loss of larger more lean fish higher up the food chain in certain areas of the world due to over-fishing! Many of the so-called brown fish meals are made up of smaller species of fish which frankly have not been traditional table fish! But fortunately for anyone who is ethically-minded not bent on adding to already depleted fish stocks and fish extinction chicken and poultry products really do fill the gap that traditionally-used fish meals are leaving behind. This truly means you can replace fish meals in baits with a sustainable bulk protein product that has very many features, benefits and characteristics used in baits as fish meals. Some people carp on about growth factors in fish meals as yet unknown by science implicated by growth levels of animals eating it but science does not know everything and there are growth factors in many bait ingredients that are either unknown or over-looked as such including amino acids themselves! Personally it might sound odd but I very rarely use fish meals in my baits but of course everyone knows you certainly do not need fish meals to catch carp! So what is so great about making chicken boilies for example, using poultry protein meal? Why not just get a 50:50 mix of soya flour and semolina and add some eggs and chicken flavour? Of course you can do this and it will catch fish, but just how many bigger fish will this hook and how long this approach will be successful or even on some waters, will this bait even hook wary discerning fish are very serious questions. So what is a bigger fish approach in terms of making your own boilies, pastes, ground baits and pellets etc? The fact is the better you can include substances that carp actually survive on for vital energy the more confident you can be you will have an all year round bait that will be successful instantly and long-term for big fish. This is one reason why fish meals are used in baits so much but is also just the reason to use poultry protein meal plus some extra back-up ingredients and additives to boost the stimulatory nutrition and attraction of your bait. So for instance, here is an example a homemade bait-making beginner might like to try in producing his own boilies, pastes and pellets etc, and this recipe can be used as a base for ground baits and all kinds of other applications and be adapted or changed however you desire. Please note that you do not need a degree in nutrition or be expert in sorting limiting amino acids to make exceptionally successful homemade baits. In fact ordinary anglers are doing it all the time with the help of the right reading materials (as you will see) and have been doing so for decades! However it will really help you to know what substances truly incite the most intensive feeding behaviours (and why this happens in regards to fish senses in detail,) and how best to combine all these details in various ways to keep ahead of the ever-adapting fish and competing baits! The old imperial measure of 2.2 pounds equals a kilogram. A metric kilogram is a thousand grams. Breaking a recipe into grams makes things easy; just use an online conversion tool to swap measure over if you need to. I find I keep on working in pounds and ounces being old-school instead of usually using kilograms and grams. Pounds and ounces is accurate for very many homemade baits and will obviously catch you enough fish and is after all the way the original commercial bait mixes were formulated anyway! So here is just one of any endlessly potentially varied simple basic cheap recipes for an effective homemade nutritionally-stimulating poultry protein-based bait for boilies, pellets or pastes etc: 8 ounces of Ccmoore poultry protein meal. (Or substitute 2 ounces of poultry protein meal for 2 ounces of purified meat meal for example, if so preferred.) 3 ounces of blood powder. 3 ounces of Ccmoore CLO. 2 ounces of Vitamealo milk powder. This list is plus your eggs or you might choose alternatively to substitute some of the binding Vitamealo, blood powder and CLO for perhaps egg albumin and whey gel or even whole egg powder. For a completely unique bait flavour I recommend you add the awesome natural flavour from Carpfishingpellets called Roast Chicken Juices! (You will find the bait company Carpfishingpellets online.) Personally I am not bothered if a bait actually lasts intact for just 3 hours immersion when the bait is very freshly potent, or is still usefully intact as a hook bait after 48 hours immersion as long as enough of the basic matrix of the bait incites a strong feeding response even when washed out. Much of bait making is not just science but art. Refining your own mixes for your fishing challenges and even individual fish preferences is very much part of the equation as some fish will respond better to different variations and altered tastes. I recommend using taste enhancers in such a bait and an easy one to use is chicken gravy powder packed with feed-stimulatory substances. E.g. around 3 cubes worth can make a lot of difference to the taste.) Poultry protein meal is not totally new and has been used in many bait recipe in various forms for decades but only now is certain to become more and more used in bait making. So do yourself a big favour and benefit most from its alternative tastes, smells, aromas and nutritional attraction right now - before it becomes a truly mainstream high protein bait ingredient!
