I was reading the Word of God a few days ago and the Holy Ghost explained something to me. Now, I still believe that when a person gets something from the Word of God, they shouldn't just harbor it. They should, shout it from the rooftops, or at least post it on their blog.
The things that you believe in are rather important. You can believe anything you want, as long as it matches up with what the Word of God says. You can believe in something a person shows you, through the Word of God, a new and better way to look at the whole matter. To all believers in the body of Christ, that is what I want to do.
If you paid any attention to my last message that was posted on , http://robertshoward.com/2018/05/17/god-savior-witness/, I am going to use, 1 Corinthians 3:1-17, again. Because there are still some out there, who don't understand how people are going to be Saved, without them pushing Salvation into there lives. The person they are trying to "Soul Win", just says yes to get them away from there home. Or, they claim conversion but never go to church for the rest of their lives.
I have been in a church or two, that there were some that wanted to help God along. They wanted to save peoples souls, mind you I said they. Where they seem to forget a few key scriptures, like Matthew 7:21-23, 25:1-13, or Luke 8:5-15. What do they say about the five virgins who came without oil, or about the preacher's who did all of the wonderful things by themselves but didn't ask the Lord to do anything for them, or the sower of seed? And those are just three of the different situations that are in the Bible.
That makes me wonder are people who say they are saved and not living for the Lord, not going to church, not submitting there lives to Christ, not doing anything for God because they are Saved? I can't and shouldn't worry about the people who claim to be saved but really are not. I try not to do that because it says in 2 Corinthians 13:5, worrying about yourself is enough. I read the scriptures, Romans 2:13, James 1:21-27, and they tell me what I am to do.
I am here to say that God is powerful. The Heavenly Father uses the Holy Spirit for a few things and conviction is one of them. Showing a person that they are lost, and presenting a way out of the mess that person in, and hocus pocus they are freed from their burdens? That is good for a movie, but is that true Holy Ghost Salvation, through Jesus Christ? Then that person goes on with their supposed, "Christian life", not reading God's Word, or telling anyone how to following the greatest commission of Jesus Christ; letting others know about their testimony of how they were born-again, thinking that they will have rewards to lay at Jesus' feet. Those are just some of the things that make me go hmmm.
In verses 6-7, 6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. Planting and watering is all the Born-Again believer should do. Now, verses 14-15, 14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. The Bible tell's me that I am to just be a witness for Christ. I should be serious about doing a couple of things, planting the Word of God and telling others about Christ through my testimony.
Ask God to help you through his Word, don't just listen to others give their perspective. There are a lot of people who say things that make you go, hmmmm. But what does the scripture say? I think God that he has blessed me with the ability to read the Bible, I never want to give that up.
Read the book of 1 John, you should be able to read that in about 30 minutes, but you can study that book for a lifetime. That is another book of the Bible that tells you there are two types of people, the ones that think they are going to Heaven and ones that know they are going to Heaven. I choose to be one of the latter.
