6 Things to Consider When Choosing a Wedding Venue

Party Ideas
Whether a chapel, a garden, or a secluded spot by a body of water, the venue you choose for your wedding will have a huge impact on the tone of your ceremony and the related festivities. The way a venue looks and feels will be something you and your guests will remember for years to come. It is important that you take the time you need to find a location that satisfies your functional needs and makes you even more excited than you already were about your special day. Here are 6 things to consider when looking at Atlanta wedding venues.

Event Flexibility

Some locations have a limited set of services, decorations, and event types that they offer and cover. You should think about your plans for the day and the kind of space you will need. If you want to hold the ceremony and reception or dinner at the same location, find out which venues will allow this. Will you be able to rearrange the space to fit your plan? Does the venue provide all the features that you need? Popular features to check on include a gazebo or other area of focus for the ceremony, dining and serving tables, and a dance floor.

Ease and Comfort

The last thing you want on your big day is physical discomfort or the fear that your guests are miserable. Start by thinking about the season in which you will be married and typical weather patterns during that time of year. If precipitation or extreme heat are likely, consider making plans for an indoor ceremony. Next, consider the traveling you and your guests will need to do to get to the venue. Which areas are realistic and which may prove difficult for many people? If you are expecting guests who need particular accommodations, factor this in as well. For example, if you have a relative in a wheelchair, make sure that the venue you choose will provide them with easy access and mobility.

Guest Count

In terms of practicality, your estimated guest count should be one of the biggest factors in your choice of venue. Is the size of the venue realistic for the crowd you're expecting and the activities you have planned for the group (possibly including dinner, dancing, and a receiving line)? Will the space be too big, too small, or just right? Many venues actually require that you give them the approximate number of guests you expect to join you on the big day.

Style

As you look for a venue that will provide for your needs and keep your guests satisfied, don't settle on the first location that ticks the marks on your checklist and neglect your own vision for your wedding. It is, after all, your special day, and the location should look the way you want it to. Be as picky as you want about the style and overall aesthetic of the venues you look at. If it isn't what you envisioned, there are always other places.

Additionally, many venues come with decorations, including chair covers and tablecloths that you can use if you so choose. Even if you think you already know exactly what you want, it's certainly worth looking at your options before selecting a venue; you may be pleasantly surprised by what you find! If you'd rather take care of everything yourself, check with the venue to see if there are any policies in place that will prevent you from having free reign.

If you haven't yet found a venue that with which you're completely happy, just keep looking! Somewhere among the Atlanta wedding venues is the ideal location for your special day. Take all the time you need to be sure you've made the right choice.
