Ariel Castro's Suicide Letter Analyzed By Joel Engel Ariel Castro's handwriting offers no real surprises at first glance. His excessively heavy script and slashing 't' bars reveal massive aggression, anger, violence, and a most demanding nature. The long, lower lengths (the bottom loops of the g's and y's) are disproportionately long, disclosing profound biological urges. The writing is replete with muddy smears (technically referred to as 'pastose'), which is the dead giveaway. Whenever there is this 'unclean,' extremely pastose style, we are dealing with a sensually abnormal individual. His angle of writing leans exceedingly rightward and progressively becomes even more rightward. His intense emotions transform into desperation. His writing also has many angles and hooks, showing a rigid, pigheaded approach. The rigidity, coupled with abnormal sensuality, triggers the possessor into a most brutal act. Taking a second and overall view, there is a bombshell. The left margin descends with perfect, equal distance (to the left side of the page), and no lines run into each other. This means that Castro has excellent control over his maniacal formulations. This 'man,' in spite of his barbaric behavior, is capable of being clear-minded.' He has planned his every desire.
