In a country like India, the amount of talent one would find in any field is immensely huge. India is filled with talented singers, dancers and artist who come to the city of dreams from nooks and corners of the country, in search of an opportunity. While most of them succeed in getting their big break, others return home after losing their battle against destiny. But is it really that easy for one to find the path of success in the film or music industry? Not really! There is a lot struggle but opportunities are never less. And these chances arise all thanks to reality shows. It started with a popular show conceptualised by Channel V in search of India's first girl band. The show picked up really well and since then there was no stopping for such chances. Indian Idol made people believe in dreams and encouraged them to come forward and showcase their talent on national television. Eventually channels launched more and more such shows which kept the singers and artist waiting for their big chance. But then came a point of saturation and channels noticed a huge denial from the audience. This mainly started happening because viewers were fed up of seeing the same type of show formats, time and again, presented by different hosts and celebrity judges. Soon music channels also started seeing a dip in viewership. They had to come up with a way to present the concept of music to their audience in an innovative way. One such Hindi music channel that could manage to crack the trick was Sony Mix. The channel introduced a platform for budding and popular singers to present their songs on a platform which was only for 90 seconds to 120 seconds, and was telecasted during the commercial breaks of their shows. While Mix came up with this concept of keeping their viewers engaged, MTV introduced the concept of Coke Studio and Unplugged by getting on board the best of the musicians from the industry. But did it work? Oh yes it did! And taking a step further, these channels created an online portal for themselves where their viewers could come and treat their ears to some soothing music, throughout the day. With their online platforms sharing music, TV channels made sure they target and tap their fans in all mediums possible. From here what's in store for budding music talent and music fanatics, it is left for the channels to innovative.
