It is sad when the disco has to finish but all good things do come to an end unfortunately – even if the night is going just great. How should the DJ end the party? Should they just cut the music off and leave people standing? There a good methods that the DJ should use that are suitable and professional that will keep people happy and energetic. The worst thing the DJ can do is to completely cut off the music without warning unless you want a good night to end badly! Use the Microphone to End the Night People will be dancing away not even knowing how long is left to go and the DJ should make an announcement over the mic around 30 minutes before they finish as a warning. Many of the people may have had a few drinks causing their memory to be poor so another announcement to say the night is ending soon will be a good idea DJ, change the music! All events are different and special in their own right but any mobile disco will generally cater for weddings, corporate parties etc and music styles will mainly be commercial. If we take weddings as an example the DJ has a good and easy opportunity to be play nice and slow romantic songs which are also great to wind down the night. Playing slow music will get the party jumpers off of the dance-floor pretty quick and leave the few couples on. Great news for the DJ that is finishing soon! If the DJ has a full dance floor with a couple of tracks to go then a sing-a-long song that everyone knows should be played. Your guests should leave happy! Lower the Volume Apart from using the mic to let people know that the disco is going to end soon the DJ should gradually lower the volume of the music. The volume of the disco generally gets louder during the night and will peak so to send the right message to the audience lowering the volume will help massively as people will start to leave the dance floor. The DJ should play the right song which is more suitable played low rather than a floorfilla. Announce the last song Any good party DJ should end the night on a big high and receive some sort of cheer and appraisal when the music ends. It doesn’t matter what sort of the music the DJ has been playing but the last song should be known to everyone and maybe a good sing-a-long. The announcement to end the night should be something like “What a great a night and thank you all for coming to make this party one of the best ever. This is the last tune from me tonight – enjoy!”. This will end the disco nicely!
