Now, I was on the bus on Tuesday headed to work and on my way through the hood I noticed all these satellite TV dishes and I wondered how can they afford such a luxury despite the current global recession and any personal economic challenges low wage income earners commonly experience? Well, it hit me that people will always prioritize their wants over their needs, because a want is a pleasurable desire people actively pursue so as to attain immediate gratification, while a need is something essential for long-term survival, but not necessarily pursued with passion (e.g. marriage). Hence, all the satellite dishes or urgency to watch cable TV online, clearly reflects that the Idiot Box isn't an essential tool, but does take precedence over essential needs (Yep, people are funny).
