On average when a person looks at their utility bill, heating water amounts to approximately thirty percent of the bill. There is a better option, and that is the tankless water heater. With a regular water heater it continuously heats water even when you are out of the house, sleeping, or eating. Even when it not required it heats water. Generally there is no water storage facilities with such heaters.

Pros
• They never run out of hot water
• They are space and energy efficient
• Lower electric bills
• There may be a tankless water heater tax credit
• Produce more hot water when you compare them to regular water heaters
• At the twist of a faucet you get hot water on demand
• No cleaning of the tank like regular hot water heaters
• They come in all sizes and shape
• Scalding water is prevented so they are efficient in regards to personal safety
• They last longer because they have no tank that can become corroded
Cons
• When you compare them to regular water tanks the tankless water heaters cost five to seven hundred dollars more.
• They can require more maintenance and care
• Sensitive to water pressure
• Takes some time to gauge how much is required to increase the temperature
• Proper ventilation is required if you use a gas run tankless water heater
• If there is a power outage you will lose hot water if you are using an electric one
• Cost of installation is two to four times higher
How they work
With a regular water heater there is a storage tank that holds twenty to one hundred gallons of water, which is continuously heated for use. With the tankless water heater you just turn on the faucet for warm water. The water will flow through turbine senses, which will gauge the incoming water’s temperature. Then these senses will see what the temperature is set on at the thermostat. It calculates the difference between these two temperatures so you get the desired water temperature. When you turn the water off the heater will go into temporary shutdown mode until you need more hot water.
General information
These types of water heaters are commonly used in Asia and Europe but are starting to become more popular in the United States. They do have the tendency to have a drop off in heating capacity so one way to avoid this is to install several of the smaller tankless water heater NJ or combi boiler NJ units for each area of the home. Sometimes people will use these types of water heaters to supplement a hot water system that is far from where the hot water appliance is.
