Why Choose a Gerber knife?

Home Improvement
Though there are hundreds of brands that manufacture knifes, nothing but Gerber knife will do when it comes to selecting one that stands apart from the rest. Seven decades and more have gone since the company manufacturing this knife was established. In the year 1910, Joseph Gerber, the founder of this company, decided to manufacture knives that were different from the others. He had a wish to gift his clients with something unique and employed a knife-maker for the job.

As it turned out, these knives became extremely popular and Gerber decided to quit his job at an advertising agency and start manufacturing knives. They have been actively involved in producing high quality cutlery, multipurpose, and hunting knives since then. Their fame lies in the fact that they are crafted to perfection and also because of their unique design. Take for example the Freeman Hunter which is a hunting knife.

The premium grade stainless steel used to manufacture it is complimented by its polished pear handle. The Firestorm has a .25 inch blade made from surgical stainless steel. The razor sharp blade's beauty is improved by the polycarbonate scales that also give a firm grip on the steel handles. Then there is the Magnum Camo Jr. which boasts of an extremely sharp and durable blade fixed in an unbreakable handle made out of fiberglass reinforced thermoplastic.

The quality of these knives are borne by the fact that they are also used by the military, where there is zero percent tolerance for error; these are obtainable in ranges like survival, automatic, spring loaded, and pocket. These sharp cutters are manufactured after lots of planning and research. Take for example the automatic models that are manufactured by the competition. They boast small trigger buttons which is impossible to operate if you are wearing thick gloves.

Hence if you are operating any machine where wearing of gloves are compulsory, or if you are working in the snow, you wont be able to open those knives. However, the extra large trigger button built into the Gerber model makes it easy to operate, despite the thickness of the glove. The safely lock is another added function. If it is shifted to the safe position, it will disengage the trigger. Search the net for many more models. When you use it, you will find out the difference between Gerber and the rest.

Did you know you have asked this question under govmenernt and politics? I haven't checked, but there could be a better place for this question, maybe hobbies ?But,most military do not use pocket knives for everything .For one thing, these may be considered as a weapon, and get you can get arrested in some places, not just on airplanes, but on military posts for carrying a knife.Military types train with weapons, but aren't allowed to carry them, just anywhere. They are kept under lock and key, except when going into combat, or training.

I love my Old Timer! I have always careird one,in fact the same style,Schradeae Old Timerae Gunstock Trapper Linerlock. But I must admit, I didn't care for the fact they are now made in Chinaand made with SS blades instead of the old high carbon blades like the ones I grew up with. But, dollar for dollar, they are still a very good knife. I'm going through a buy American stage in my life. So I'm switching to a Case Mini Copperlock. I'm getting the one with the same type of handle material that my Old Timer has, Delrin. You just can't beat Delrin for a synthetic knife handle material.Enough rambling! Thanks for your site. And don't get me wrong. I still feel Old Timer is a good knife.
