6 Handy Tips for a CEO to Stay Healthy

Business,Business News,Female Entrepreneurs
The entrepreneur CEO can easily be the most stressed and occupied professional in an organization. At the end of the day, if the CEO is the first person to get credit for an achievement, he is also the first person to feel the heat when things go awry

Stressful work, the fatigue of chasing targets, the worries and tensions of delays and missed deals – in the midst of all these, the body and mind pays, sometimes dearly. Under extreme work load, the person at the top of the hierarchy forgets to pay attention towards his affected health till it’s too late.

In this article, we will suggest some health tips to CEOs, managers and business leaders which would help them do their work efficiently while leading a happy and stress-free life.

1. Reduce Stress with Delegation of Work

Recognize your best resources for different responsibilities and delegate the work as per the ability and skills. Divide the work in steps and assign each step to the right candidate. This way, it will be easier for you to track the progress and provide guidance wherever required. An effective and successful work delegation gives you time and energy to focus on details only, thus reducing your stress levels as well. 2. Go For a Morning Walk

You might be very busy. You might be working late nights. But, try to invest some time for your health. Go for a daily morning walk. A 10 to 15 minute brisk walk in the fresh morning air is sufficient to reduce your stress level and rejuvenate you. It also regulates your metabolism and restores normal functioning of your body.

3. Take a Break Man!

Stretching your body beyond its limits may lead to health complications. The simplest way to reduce physical fatigue at work (which is the major cause of health complications) is to take regular breaks. Leave your desk, laptop and mobile for 10–15 minutes, stretch your limbs and informally interact with your colleagues. It would help you feel refreshed and energetic. You can also become a member of a CEO peer group where business leaders and entrepreneurs meet to share their ideas and seek solutions to their problems.

CEO association or business leadership coaching also allows the leaders from non-competitive businesses to address their common interests. These workshops and meetings are a great way to discuss problems and doubts with your peers, get insights into how to best deal with the obstacles and experience relief from built up worries.

4. Eat Healthy

How healthy we are and will be, depend a lot on what we eat! To grab a quick bite in the midst of busy schedules, executives and CEOs succumb to easily available processed foods and fast foods.

This habit is fraught with risks. Not only unhealthy food but improper eating practices (eating at the desk or eating while walking or working) also contribute to health problems.

Avoid processed foods as much as possible. Don’t skip meals and make sure to include grains, fruits and vegetables in your diet.

5. Enjoy Proper Sleep

CEOs normally share a dysfunctional relationship with sleep, mainly because of work load or excessive traveling. Since sleep deprivation can lead to many disorders such as lower brain function, a CEO should enjoy a sleep of 6 to 7 ½ hours per night.

6. Go for Routine Check-ups

Considering the hard work, stress and tension involved for being at the top of the hierarchy, the CEO should take extra care of his health. Every individual, especially the business leaders and entrepreneurs should go for routine medical check-ups, at least, every six months.

Medical check-ups help in early prognosis, and detect any symptoms of growing ailments. If detected early, you can nip it in the bud. So set aside your appointment book for a day and go for a check-up. After all, the healthier you are, the more efficient you become.
