What Are Scrubs Made Of?

Fashion & Cosmetics,Business

Scrubs are incredibly useful and comfortable uniforms for employees in the medical field. They are long-lasting, fade-resistant, stain-resistant, protective, and remain sanitary with proper washing. All in all, scrubs are excellent pieces of clothing. Anyone who wears them might be surprised how easily you can move in them, how stain-resistant they are (even when exposed to dangerous fluids), and how colorfast they can be. Anyone who is in need of scrubs might think, "Where can I find scrub stores near me?" You are in luck if you need scrubs, because these excellent uniforms can also be highly affordable, even if you find stylish, name-brand scrubs.

What exactly are these excellent pieces of clothing made of? How do they stay so durable and keep you comfortable? It is all woven into them. Read on to learn about what scrubs are made of and why these materials work so well with medical professionals.

What's In Them?

Most nursing scrubs are made of a perfected polyester/cotton blend. Others are 100% cotton or 100% polyester, though these 100% scrubs are less common. Even less common are scrubs that include other materials, such as synthetic rayon and even spandex. Nearly every set of scrubs you see, though, will contain a precise blend of polyester and cotton.

What Do Stores Carry?

Most scrubs sold in stores and by online retailers are polyester/cotton blends, which is important because these materials have tremendous benefits. Some stores may carry a wider variety of materials, though.

Why These Fabrics?

Cotton and polyester are very cheap to produce and manufacture, which makes them very affordable. This helps stores to keep their prices low, which is helpful to those who work in the medical industry. Not everyone in scrubs can afford to drop hundreds of dollars on a uniform, after all.

How Are Scrubs Engineered for Workplace Safety?

Cotton and polyester are very easy to maintain, especially when they are blended together—a blend helps manufacturers meld the best qualities of 2 different fabrics for an overall excellent piece of clothing. Cotton and polyester clothing resists wrinkling, dries quickly, cleans thoroughly, and maintains its coloring, even after several washes. All of this is important because scrubs need to be washed often, at least after every wearing. This is especially true for lab technicians, surgeons, and nurses who come into contact with harsh chemicals and bodily fluids on a regular basis.

Even better, the polyester incorporated in the blend makes the fabric more flexible. This is important for nurses, doctors, radiology technicians, and other professionals involved in patient care. Flexible, lightweight garments allow the wearer to move easily in a busy, fast-paced environment.

Can Scrubs Look Good, Too?

Thankfully, these helpful and convenient garments are inexpensive and come in a wide variety of stylish colors and cuts, so you can remain professional, work well, stay sanitary, remain safe, and also look great. A good appearance has a great effect on patients, after all. If you are asking yourself, "Where can I find good and affordable scrub stores near me?" start your research now. The sooner you start shopping, the sooner you can get your hands on excellently engineered, attractive scrubs.
