No man ever desired to be poor in this world. Though not all of us desired to be filthy rich, but I guess it’s safe to say that all of us want to be comfortable and happy with our lives. But this notion is quite far from reality. There are a lot of people who are living below the poverty line, some cannot even eat a decent meal a day. It is sad there are other people who measures happiness through the material things that they posses. But I personally disagree with the idea that wealth should be the basis for happiness. Indeed, being rich has its own advantages such us being to purchase luxurious things and services. But this alone cannot guarantee a happy life. In fact, too much wealth could sometimes bring grief to us. Some wealthy individuals are not satisfied with their lives. Though they possess more money than others, this does not mean that they are happy. Some rich families are broken because the parents are too busy with their business. They tend to leave behind their kids to babysitters which often lack the parental knowledge needed for a child to grow holistically. As the child grows, he lacks the proper manners and emotional stability which should be provided by the parent. When he reaches his teenage years, the child will be prone to vices such as drugs and alcohol because of its weak childhood foundation. That is why it is important for parents, regardless of what their status is, to have a close relationship with their child. There are a lot of activities which promotes closeness to the family. Sports is one effective way of bringing the family together. Whether you choose to play dodgeball in Knox Indoor Sports Coliseum or play basketball in Northcote Indoor Sports Centre, the outcome is just the same. Let us remember that children should be guided right from the start so that they will grow up desirably. Let us not be contented in being able to afford amenities which claims to help our children. We should be vigilant in all aspects of our child’s growth. For me, if a parent were able to grow their child properly, then I can consider them wealthy in a different sense. Though it may not necessarily mean that they have plenty of money, but it means they have an abundance of love. Which is more important than anything else in this world.
