Noun and its kinds

A noun is a word that is used instead of a person, place, animal or thing. Noun nomenclature comes from the Latin word for "name". The first part of speech that you learn in English grammar is the noun. It is one of the eight parts of speech used in traditional English grammar. Here in this article I will discuss the types of names by giving appropriate examples. Types of names Noun can be of different types depending on the function it serves in the sentence. The different types of nouns are discussed below: - Common nouns- A common noun is the kind of noun that is used to name the general elements. These are the words that are used to describe non-specific things. Examples of common nouns are boy, girl, table, chair, global, person, car, bicycle, bird, box, book, dog, house, etc. The use of common name in sentences 1 - The girls are dancing. 2 - Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system. 3 - The chair is broken. 4 - Rachel is reading a book. Proper nouns A proper noun is used to refer to single entities. They are written with a capital letter and represents individuals, organizations, places, schools, etc. Examples of names are from Earth, Delhi, New York, London, Richard, Lisa, in January, Friday, United Nations, the Ganges, Jainism etc. The use of the proper name in the Sentences 1 - The United Nations (UN) is an international organization. 2 - Sunday is the first day of the week. 3 - The Ganges River is a major Indian subcontinent. 4 - London is the capital of England. Abstract nouns Names that are used to represent states of mind or feelings are called as abstract nouns. These are words such as we can see, hear, smell, touch or taste. Examples of such words are courage, confidence, love, ambition, pleasure, ecstasy, rage, desire, greed, hope, courage, etc.

The use of the abstract noun in sentences 1 - We now have the infrastructure to satisfy this desire. 2 - Hope to see more of him in the future. Collective nouns The words that are used to define a group of objects are called as collective nouns. Objects can be people, animals or other things instead. Examples of collective nouns are flying (cormorants), the colony (penguins), the herd (the moose), size (spiders), the troupe (shrimp), the team (athletes), etc. The use of partnership in Sentences 1 - The boy took a bunch of juicy grapes from the vine. 2 - A band of thieves stole gold. 3 - A troop of monkeys were swinging in the trees. 4 - The crops have been eaten by a swarm of locusts.
