Making posters to celebrate the 2012 Olympics The 30th summer Olympics will be open in London on 27th July 2012.Lots of activities were held all over the country to celebrate the historical moment. All students from Y7 in King Edward VII School, the Schools Network (SSAT) Confucius Classroom, used their own way to celebrate the London Olympics. As last summer Olympics was held in Beijing, Mandarin teacher Huangyu and Wang Wenting made use of this coincidence to introduce students some basic knowledge of Beijing and London Olympics and watch the video of opening ceremony together. Pupils thought it was really clever and imaginative, when they knew the meaning of the mascots—Fuwas’ name. The opening ceremony all these left the students and teachers a deep impression: drum-playing countdown, The Four Great Inventions, Martial performance, the Olympic torch lighting … Poster designing was the most important part. Every student made a poster including both Beijing and London Olympics according to the teachers’ requirement. When they knew the winners would get delicate gifts prepared by Mandarin teacher, they were really excited and tried their best to make a perfect poster! “I really like my poster although I didn’t get any prize, and I wish I can go to China one day”, a student from Y7 said. The poster exhibition attracted a lot of pupils and teachers’ attention. Most of them think these posters were amazing and they also learnt a lot of Beijing Olympics from these posters. It was really interesting!
