Donna Hall, mother of the super model Bridget Hall, is making her debut as a children’s book author and illustrator. Her first title is the popular and critically-acclaimed children’s book, “Adventures with Andy & Susie.” The book is the Victorian “Steampunk” style adventure of Andy, a young boy home from school for a weekend of fun. Written in rhyme, the 36-page illustrated work is narrated by Andy’s faithful side-kick, Susie the orchard cat. |
“This is a story I’ve been wanting to tell for some time now,” said Hall, who is also a multi-award-winning artist of mural size oil paintings. “The process of writing and illustrating a children’s book has introduced me to a new application of expression.”
“Adventures with Andy & Susie” is set in the hills of a family orchard. Armed with a flashlight, goggles and field clothes, the young hero sets off for adventure. His curiosity is fueled by hydro-turbines, a steam-driven wheel chair, and a tidal-powered city with hyper-loop trains to his school.
Over 60% of Amazon reviewers for the book give it 5 stars. Industry reviews have also been favorable, with Kirkus stating, "From the first page, Susie will capture imaginations with the goggles she wears, and her relationship with Andy is sure to please young readers, especially animal lovers." A British book review shared, “The drawings were excellent. In fact, not just excellent, they were stunning. The illustrator is fantastically talented at showing the reader everything need to see to help them to not only understand the text but also to add to it. It’s a charming story… even inspiring with a hefty dollop of suspense.”
In addition to hardcover, the book is available through Amazon Kindle Unlimited. For more information, visit https://www.amazon.com/dp/0986293024
