MBA Entrance Exam – Cat 2013 CAT is no doubt the mother of all B-school entrance tests in India, however other B-school Entrance Exam such as XAT, SNAP and JMET are also taken by a huge number of aspirants. These Exam are the gateways to some of the most prestigious B-schools in the country. Not only the student community but also recruiters and academicians hold b- schools such as XLRI, XIMB, SIBM, SCMHRD and IITs in high esteem. Since the pattern and difficulty level of these tests is different from that of CAT thereby a student has to fine-tune his/her preparation in order to do well. Therefore, it becomes vital to understand the nitty-gritty of these tests. MANAGEMENT education in India is predominately a derivative of western management thought and practice. It is only occasionally that management schools draw inferences from Indian epics, shastras, and practices. When you started preparing for B-school, the factor uppermost on your minds would have been the entrance Exam – primarily the CAT. You’d have pored over your quant textbooks, solved mock tests, attempted brain teasers, and tried out as many comprehension passages as possible. In your mind, that’s the most critical part of the B-school admission process. In a way, you’re right. The CAT and other entrance tests do sieve through the lakhs of prospective candidates, selecting only those who’ve displayed the best aptitude. From an Indian point-of-view, the MBA is all about the prestige - especially when done from a top-tier school. Some People will pay more attention to you and your opinions (I say that from personal experience) just because of your degree, which does help with career advancement. But the biggest advantage of a MBA from a top-tier institute is the network that it opens you to! A B-school is the best place to make friends with people who will be able to help you later on. along with your CAT preparation, you would definitely have started preparing for the interview and GD stages. Mock interviews, reading up on the news, and taking part in practice GDs is all part of the game. You might even decided upon what to wear to the GD or interview, and practiced speaking in front of a mirror to make sure your voice is modulated just right. However, the dominant view among most MBA students (especially those in India) is that there's more than enough school-related stuff to do in a MBA course and that there simply isn't enough time to fit in a job. You are merely a human being, and you have just 24 hours in a day to fiddle around with! Of course it is not impossible to do a part-time job while pursuing your MBA. However, this would mean you might have to sacrifice some of the benefits of going to a B-school in the first place!
