I remember when I passed my driving test. I took an extended lunch break to take my practical test so it was a good job I passed because the jokes in the office would have been unbearable! However, after passing my test the next thing I couldn't stop thinking about was when I was going to get a new car! Of course, like every teenager that passes their driving test, they assumed that they were going to be getting one of the latest models on the road. Not the case. It was a 2003 Ford that had clearly gathered a fair few miles (probably not the greatest choice I had made) but I had my car! There are so many mistakes that new drivers make when passing - hopefully you don't recognise many of them. 1. Buying a Car Like I mentioned above, my biggest mistake after passing was getting excited and buying a car too early. I was so interested in getting on the road I didn't care what it was, what it looked like or how old it was. If you do want to get a car sooner rather than later - go to a used car garage. Recognised manufacturers are able to create a number of custom deals and you will be surprised how affordable one of the latest models can be. 2. Lying for Cheap Insurance Simply not advised. Many new drivers like to mention "white" lies about their profession, car value or mileage in a bid to get cheaper insurance premiums. A friend that takes driving lessons in London was advised by his driving instructor to always keep it truthful as it will come back to haunt you in the long run. Dangerous Driving When you pass your test, don't be an idiot. Not only will you lose your licence but you could potentially cause harm to other road users. Remember what you driving instructors in London have taught you and you will be perfectly safe behind the wheel.
