They have no idea why there are here, here in this dark room, but they must now find a way to survive in this world. Awaken...This is the only thing the people who awoke in the room remember before waking up. As they adventure outside the room, it becomes apparent that they are in a heavily forested area. The town has a medieval look and feel to it. Soon, they are rounded up and brought to a man who tells them that they must join the Reserve Army Forces and kill monsters to make money. The items the monsters have, along with parts of the monster itself, can be sold and traded in the market in town. Some of the group took to this quickly, others not so much. Whenever people are told to group up, there are always rejects. We follow the rejects of the initial group who decide to form a party. They were left out from the others from their inability to properly hunt or kill. Nevertheless, the form a party, and their adventure begins. The party consists of: Haruhiro the thief, Yume the hunter, Shihoru the mage, Ranta the dark night, Moguzo the warrior, and Manato the priest. Right away their fears are realized as hunting monsters is as gruesome and tough as it sounds. It's not like a game, you are fighting to kill and not to be killed. The creatures, the monsters, will fight for their life. The first few hunting trips prove the fact that they are a dis-functional party. They kill no monsters, and therefore earn no money. The struggle to live in this world becomes even more apparent as their starting funds dwindle. Just like in the real world, eating and sleeping has a price on it. The party must figure out a way to work together in order to become a functional, profiting party. Success is what will also lead to them getting better at their respective skills. Finally, after the first few tries, they are finally able to bring down a goblin. This is the beginning for this party, this is the push they needed to start being successful. It becomes apparent right away that Manato is the leader of the group. He spends most of his time either helping the party or interacting with the town folk trying to learn new information about hunting grounds and monsters. He does everything he can to make sure that his party, or rather his friends, are safe on their journeys. Haruhiro always looked up to Manato, he tells him more than a couple of times about how much he does for them. Manato does at least three members jobs whenever they are fighting; he fights, he is their strategist, and he also is their healer. The success of the party soon runs to their heads, as they start taking on more daring attacks. They let their guard down, thinking that they could overcome whatever was in the area. They were foolish to think that their prey, goblins, would not start reacting to constantly being hunted by them. They run into an ambush. Haruhiro saves Manato's life at the start by taking an arrow for him, and soon after another in the foot. Manato manages to heal Haruhiro and the party makes their escape. It's not until they are far away in the forest that Haruhiro turns around and realizes that Manato had been shot in the back by an arrow. Since he used all of his magic on his friends to heal them, he has none left to heal himself. Manato dies there in the forest...This is the world of Grimgar.
