During trade, currency quotes are made. A quote is made in pairs. For example, if the quote reads USD/JPY = 119.50, it means that one US dollar is equivalent to 119.50 Japanese Yen. In this pair, the currency specified before the slash is called the base currency. The base currency will always be one unit. The currency after the slash is called the quoted currency. Direct quote v/s indirect quote The difference in the quote arises depending upon whether the domestic currency is treated as the base or the quoted. The quote is a direct quote, if the base currency is domestic. It is indirect if the quote currency is domestic. Ask price, Bid Price, Spread and Pips The price that you quote for a currency pair is called the bid price. The price at which it is actually sold is called the ask price. The difference between the two prices is called the spread. Take a look at this example quote. forex trading USD/CAD = 1.2000/05 Here, the base currency is US Dollars and the quoted currency is Canadian Dollars. The bid price is 1.2000 and the ask price is 1.2005. The spread would be 0.0005 which would mean 5 pips or points. Cross Currency Mostly, trading is done with the US Dollar as the base and hence called majors. Some countries still have relationship with queen related currencies. They will have other currencies as base currency like Pounds or Sterling. FOREX TRADING Humans or automated robots generate suggestions for trading a currency pair. This is done at a specific time or price. The communication may be through SMS, e-mails or updates on a website, tweets and other communication methods which are very quick. These forex signals may be unpaid for or may offer other services as well for a pay. Signal Suppliers Signal suppliers are available in the market nowadays. They keep track of previous point deviation of currency pairs and perform algorithmic analysis. They support their traders with graphs and other account maintenance facilities . forex trading is considered to be one of the quick to get rich trades. Many people wander into it with high hopes and end up losing money if they are not very careful with market watch and analysis.
