"Should I wear new running shoes for a marathon?" ... Since you've been training for a marathon, you're probably already aware that you shouldn't run in old, worn-out running shoes - this is a question on most peoples lips and this is also a great question to really consider ahead of the big event. My recommendation is yes you do need new running shoes and you need them if you are not going to suffer an unnecessary injury which in the long run could cause its own share of issues to your feet in the long run. Go to a running shop in the first instance and in turn check with your gait expert when buying new shoes. This is a great form and means of analysis and one too which will be determine what kind of a runner you are - and this will speak volumes as to what kind of new running shoes you need to buy too. Whether you're tackling a road marathon or you've just discovered your local 5K, you should go to a running footwear specialist. Give or take the extra money this may cost this will also help no end in ensuring you are fit enough too to run the event in the correct way and manner and in a painless manner too. There is nothing worse than getting one mile in and then feeling a great deal of pain in your feet because you are a.) not fit enough to run and b.) in pain from running with the wrong shoes. If you do end up purchasing a new pair of running shoes a couple of weeks out make sure they are the same model as the shoes you've been running in should you already have a pair of running shoes and if you may also have been doing other running events, even smallers ones, ahead of the big marathon itself. For sure, this is not a decision to rush or take lightly - do your research and the results could be exceptional.
